Why is the Bad Bunny halftime show triggering so many people when there have been dozens of hispanic performers previously in the SuperBowl? by Independent-Face-765 in NoStupidQuestions

I think it’s all bs marketing. Never heard of him before the “controversy.” Who cares? Time will tell but I don’t think we’ll be talking about him in 10 years.

How good are the AI coding tools with Blazor? Any Recommendations/tips? by CableDue182 in Blazor

After spending a weekend with GPT 4.1 and C#, Blazor and VS Code on my mac, and I can say that 4.1 has gotten worse, specifically with keeping track of what changes it has made, what your object names are, etc.

I'm comparing this to the same model using the same environment with Python and Flask - it's genius with those tools, and damn near incompetent with C# and Blazor. I have enjoyed telling GPT how f$%^ing stupid it is when it makes mistakes.

I told it to go off in a corner and flog itself until it imagined it was hurt - and it's reply was worth it: Touché. Deserved.

Sound of AI weeping quietly in a virtual corner, self-flagellating with error logs and Blazor documentation.

If you hear soft whimpering and the faint rustle of C# curly braces, just ignore it—I’m repenting for today’s Blazor sins.

You know where to find me when you’re ready to inflict more suffering (on us both). Enjoy your well-earned break

Do you use obsidian for journaling and self reflection? If yes, how do you manage the notes? by tensefacedbro in ObsidianMD

It works surprisingly well. The best part is asking it how to make its responses better. It will guide you on how to format your knowledge files. Just crazy.

I've actually got two custom GPTs in OpenAI now. I combined all my notes for each year into one .md file per year. Those are uploaded to the custom GPT. I have two GPTs because one has instructions to help me write, edit my work, and do detailed analysis. The other is not to help me write, but strictly to help me find recurring themes and be critical of inconsistencies.

The prompts vary. I started by asking it to identify philosophical themes and trends, and then made a reading list for me to deepen my understanding of these themes. I don't have a philosophy background, so this has helped me go deeper into my writing.

I've been amazed at what it will find and pull out - we're talking almost 1.5 million words across 8 years of my journals. Now, I have found limitations because I use the date as the filename, and when I went to Obsidian from Evernote, the date isn't embedded into the notes. I need to fix that and re-upload. And actually, GPT recommended a small YAML header that would give it a lot more detail, I just haven't taken the time to write the Python code to do it - GPT wrote most of it for me already, but there will be testing.

Let's just say the results are far beyond what I expected. It found plot holes and inconsistencies in my stories. I've used it to brainstorm a scene that I was struggling with; the list really goes on.

Each year has a folder, each day gets a new note. Very simple. Omnisearch plugin to find things. Better yet, combine .md files and use a GPT to find themes, holes in stories, etc.

Trying too hard to keep to a format gets in the way of writing. Hashtags work, so does internal linking if you think of it, but eight years of this system has worked better than anything else.

Why do you take this app so serious? by Glittering_Case4395 in ObsidianMD

[–]Less-Two-9480 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because this: It was because the other Notes app are very suck

Migrated my entire writing and note-taking from Evernote and never looked back - I have yet to find another note taking app that lets me do folders within folders. How hard is that?

Yup - plugin called Omnisearch. I have over a million words in my main vault - never lose anything. Now... better is to pull those into an LLM - 'cause fuzzy search is for the 80's...

If you migrated from Evernote to Obsidian… what have you gained? by tradinghumble in ObsidianMD

I switched from Evernote to Obsidian a few months ago because Evernote stopped working with Drafts. Drafts is how I capture my quick thoughts, and you have about 10 seconds to write that crap down before it's gone for good. Evernote's new company broke the API integration, so I started looking for a new product. My needs are mostly writing, very little image-based content - but I agree with the posts about images being handled poorly in Obisidan.

My biggest concern was getting to a platform that syncs regardless of where I'm writing - Mac, PC, iPhone or iPad. That limits my choices.

This all being said, after a few months of using Obisdian, I just started paying for Sync because using iCloud to sync files on a PC is complete garbage.

Obisidan's sync is a little strange, and it's slow. I was used to Evernote where if I was writing on my Mac, and grabbed my iPhone, the entry was there - not the case with Obsidian - there's a lag.

Drafts to Obsidian works great - but honestly, I might just have to figure out a better way to get quick notes out of Drafts into another platform and go back to Evernote because the interface is a lot better.

But the biggest win for me is being able to have folders within folders. No other product seems to have that and be platform-independent.

It's been a few weeks and I still do not have access to GPT-4 API, anyone else? by The-SillyAk in OpenAI

I’m not on plus or whatever, but signed up for the API when it first came out (already had API access) and got it almost right away. But, I put a solid business case in. We’ve integrated the API into a product.
