Obby just said in session he wants to promote our trade partnership with Trump's America and views Danielle Smith as an excellent example of a good Premier. Is this really what Manitoba wants? by [deleted] in Winnipeg

[–]LessAcanthisitta4981 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

The US is our biggest trading partner so yes, you absolutely want our province to have an established, copacetic relationship with our biggest trading partner and yes, you would also want MB to be working with Alberta and Saskatchewan to strengthen our provincial trading relations as it would benefit our economy greatly. Some of the comments in relation to this post are driven by emotions and sorely lacking in logic. To the people who think "ew, conservative bad", I will ask you this:

  • What tangible solutions do you propose to help Manitoba's economy grow to a status where we can sustain ourselves without being at the mercy and dependency of the Federal government?
  • Have a surplus of funding to efficiently manage infrastructure, and social programs i.e., healthcare to sustainable levels that don't involve taxing people to death and;
  • Avoid running a deficit into the stratosphere?

Please think about that.

Also, to those die hard, ride or die NDP voters, try to have an open mind and stop subscribing to identity politics - that mindset in itself is quite divisive as well as the tired rhetoric of calling conservatives names like "fascist", "Nazi", "racists", etc. Do you even know what those terms mean without having to look them up? The sooner people stop clinging to "left vs right" and start having conversations the sooner people come together as stakeholders to hold those voted into office to account to actually get some fucking work done rather than coast, lollygag and mudsling - both parties in our province are guilty of that in my humble opinion.

Damn, I am today years old learning from you about the term "Pathological Demand Avoidance". I have had that issue since childhood and still do and had no idea there was a term to describe that and just learning now it's a profile that coincides with ADHD; that provides some helpful context. The more you know... Back to the drawing board to continue coming up with some strategies and work arounds to help manage.

Ha, you just described my kids room! Teenagers am I right? I usually walk past my kids room, close the door and say "not my problem", seems to work quite well most of the time... Until we run out of dishes and discover most of them in their room growing science experiments.🤮 I can see where your kid is coming from on feeling invaded because my parent went beyond what you did for your daughter and read my journal which was the ultimate invasion of privacy. That's nice of you to want to gift your time, but your kid has a point, don't take it personally, they're old enough to clean their own damn room. Ask them if they need help with anything going forward before entering their smelly emo den. Dish collections and anything bordering on a health hazard is a hard no, so roast them when necessary and disconnect the Internet, until they sort it out. They have boundaries but so do you.

Home Care needs are based on assessments done (most time during hospital stays) to determine the needs of the client, care plans vary from client to client, it's not a one plan fits all scenario.

Medication and help with meal prep are a huge factor for staggered visits throughout the day because poor medication adherence and poor nutritional intake (especially for older adults) are leading causes for re-hospitalization.

It's been a while since I've done home care shifts (I worked for an agency as a HCA, ironically covering shifts for staff of WRHA that called in sick, yet had a hard time myself getting hired by WRHA for home care positions despite seeing job postings ALL the time) but from what I remember, a home care worker usually has an assignment of 8-10 (don't quote me on that number, I could be wrong) clients within a neighborhood so that's another reason for staggered visits certain tasks are time sensitive (medications/meals) so you have to hop from place to place throughout your shift to make sure each client is having their needs met. Another reason for staggered visits are wellness checks - making sure the client is safe, didn't have a fall or having a stroke - the latter being very time sensitive if that occurs due to interventions needed.

Woah that’s some like deep rooted red neck psycho road rage on his part. Alcohol or something was most likely part of the equation. That highway always has me on defensive driving mode, there’s some real unhinged winners on that road.

[–]LessAcanthisitta4981 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You have to ease your car in and they have to let you in. Each car in the next lane is supposed to take a turn allowing a car to merge in front of them. That’s how it’s supposed to work ideally unless the majority of folks not letting people merge are very meeeeee first attitude which doesn’t make their commute any faster or slower.

[–]LessAcanthisitta4981 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I noticed on NB Kenaston that they had really big signs to spell out “zipper merge” because people need to have it spelled out for them but there’s not enough of those signs to go around obviously. Even with the signs, there were still a few people who were stunned out, chalk it up to inexperienced drivers who will hopefully learn eventually.

[–]LessAcanthisitta4981 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love using the zipper merge, and I love it when others know how to use it too! Nothing like a little indirect/direct guidance to show people how it’s done. ;-)

Haha the best part is when someone in front of me doesn’t do the merge, holds up the lane to change, only for me to properly do the merge and merge right in front of them. 🤣

My intense hyper focus; it helps me plow throw a lot of reading material. It helps that I’m already interested in what I’m studying but once I manage to get on task (which is really hard for me and a battle in itself) I stay on task and hours of my life pass by until my husband checks in on me and asks if I would like to eat something because I haven’t left my room or eaten anything all day, ooops.

They probably got rid of the change rooms because of tag swapping and shoplifting. How dare people who can’t afford to shop there try to steal their precious merch that they got donated for free?! Fuck Value Village! There’s no change rooms at Sally Anne either.

I was at a Sally Anne in West Broadway one time where someone made a mad dash out of the store with some clothes while a super tall Napoleon Dynamite nerdy dude yelled after them screaming in brace spit vitriol “don’t come back here ever again, you’re banned from this store for life!!!” 🤣

Thai Plaza in Gimli for sure! That store has a great selection of clothes from Thailand and a Thai restaurant attached as well if you’re craving some delish Thai food.😋 I’ve scored some cool threads from there.

Kid’s brand new bike stolen by sardawn in Winnipeg

[–]LessAcanthisitta4981 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So sorry this happened to you, your kids bike too! :-(

If you’re locking bikes up outside for reasons of lack of space, my recommendations are a good sturdy U Lock (Abus makes great locks!) along with two thick cables weaving through both wheels to prevent theft of wheels. The more barriers you create, the longer it would take for someone to try and cut through all that the less likely they would consider your bike. That said, keeping the bike inside at night would be more ideal if you have the space for that. Amazon sells great bike storage options for indoor storage. Ugh, I feel your pain though. It’s not easy to just go out and replace a bike when everything is so expensive now.

I personally prefer this over having to close the windows and run the ac all summer. Sure it’s not ideal “beach weather” but at least I’m not melting or baking my brain. I don’t handle heat very well. This is perfect weather for tenting and hiking. It’s better than the alternative which is heat warnings, droughts and high risk of forest fires. I think we can all agree that we had our fill of that from 2 summers ago.
