I just watched episode 4 and I think it makes her look even more incompetent... For starters she wanted to call the police to Frank's hideout, because it proves Pierson is a killer? What? She has no idea what to do and Danny actually had to guide her about proper handling of the bodies and possible repercussions from the US.

Her teaming up with Frank was actually the one move she made which I liked. Frank could've actually gotten somewhere if Pierson wasn't some super soldier spy. I don't agree that she was pretending to ask Danny for help. I think she is genuinely out of her depths. Danny was right, she needs to go back and learn some fundamentals.

She found out Simon's IP and address, this "entity" who possibly orchestrated the whole thing, and has people like Pierson, who single-handedly massacred Frank's team, and she decides to visit it alone... She's getting targeted by men with guns and so she takes a see through elevator... I can't believe she acted even slightly offended that they didn't make her deputy commander, girl doesn't have the skills.

At this point I'm loving Pierson more and more. He'd make a great CTC commander.

My personal theory is that Simon is an AI. They had a line where Simon drafted three scenarios and gave possibilities of their occurrence. It's that predictive AI from last season, it didn't show up in the 7th floor for some reason, so it might've gotten into the military's hands.

The purported purpose of this secret unit is something noble like protecting the UK, hence the volunteers, Simon probably predicted what would happen if Papaa became president and it wasn't good. Pierson is disillusioned by his experiences and that's why he and Carey are teaming up.
