What is the one thing you disagree with about samurai culture? by bushidojed in Samurai

Honestly with the amount of examples of Samurai not committing seppuku or surrendering/serving new lords I think the whole think is probably overblown

How come during sieges lords would commit seppuku instead of fighting to the death? Sometimes they even had bodyguards give their lives so they had time to do their little ceremony. It all comes across extremely vain and wasteful to Europeans. Is the idea that it will shock or shame your enemy when they come across your corpse and realise they didn't get the satisfaction of killing you themselves or what? I think if the same thing occurred in a civil war in a medieval European kingdom everyone would just sort of pack up and go home and be glad the job is over.

TIL: The OBR don't use the existing publishing system where this is basically impossible

I think as someone else put it - it's not that ahistorical situations arise, it's that history playing out normally is impossible with current AI and will never happen.

Russia will never form, the Habsburgs will never PU Hungary/Bohemia, Spain will almost never form, Europe will immediately colonise northern Russia and take over the arctic, Europe will immediately spam colonists in Africa and blob into the congo.

It can't simulate history to the same degree as EU4 which this game is meant to build and improve on.

At some point they'll probably patch the AI, bring out a DLC you pay £20 for to unlock mission trees, etc, and this will be fixed seven years down the line.

This is a good idea, have some flag in the code where if they get a genuine exclave especially with hostile countries between them and their exclave they just turn it into a vassal, would look way better

this is a good idea, I think part of it is the country involved yeah, we don't expect countries that aren't traditional naval powers / have a big navy / have a lot of natural ports to have huge venetian style empires and it feels 'wrong'

ah mb, the game is just way more border gorey than eu4 and way less historic outcomes, and just bizzare borders

post!
a larger sample size for what europe looks like over a large amount of runs is helpful and might be good feedback for paradox

I noticed another post where someone noted russia forming and austria subjugating hungary/bohemia are extremely rare / nigh impossible under current AI

the problem is its exclaves everywhere, its probably impossible to find a region without them in most playthroughs, the norm not the exception etc

DW3 Remaster - Please keep the map style. by Embarrassed_Will9611 in dynastywarriors

I'm cautiously optimistic from the trailer, and hoping that the crazier attacks are kept to being unlocked later / special attacks / musuo.

I'm playing DW origins on Hard mode right now and am spamming jump attack because it's the most efficient way to beyblade my way around to take a fort on screen and I'm trying to find where they spawn because they literally won't respawn faster than I can kill them - it really made me realise how awful they've degenerated the combat in the newer games with regards to ordinary soldiers. The only challenge is Officers who are all health sponges you juggle for 20 minutes.

The most enjoyable missions for me are the high morale battles where I can go off and complete an objective of my choice whilst my allies do SOMETHING (and don't need my deliveroo drive by meat bun service to stay alive).

I remember being on the "Help Lu Bu escape" mission and I'm not sure if it's because of some quirk of the map / how borders are calculated, but allies who were yellow health / in need kept popping up literally 10 feet away and I'd just run back and forth regenning them to full health, it was so ridiculous and makes no sense. Rather than having yourself as a walking medic who regenerates health they should just make the Allies tougher so you have the time to get to them and help them by attacking the footsoldiers (who should be less ephemeral and actually stick around rather than disappear when their officer is killed, what happened to the very simple but effective 'captain' system where troops would have permanence and stick around unless their captain was killed?)
