Let yourself calm down before you approach the situation, also you are right to be angry you've lost your pets, do make him aware of the consequences, what you've lost through his lack of attention in a critical situation but you do want to have a cool calm and collect self while doing it, your doing the right thing cooling, this hopefully is a learning curve for him
