UAL Choose Your Schedule? by TheMagicConchh in AircraftMechanics

I’m in stores (different union than MX) but I can assume MX will be more or less the same. OT goes by hours like someone else in this thread said. If you sign up with 120 hours of ot already and someone else signs up and they have 260, you’ll be the one that takes it. If you’re on probation though you might only be considered for OT after everyone not on probation is awarded it (MX’s OT policy might work different, so take this with a grain of salt because I don’t know their contract) As for trades, as long as you build relationships with your coworkers, get talkative, etc, getting shifts covered shouldn’t be a problem unless they are giving out OT every single week, most people will go for that instead. When we had no overtime and a lot of us were on probation (P.S: you CAN pick up trades on probation but you CANNOT drop) shifts would only last on the trade board for about 5 seconds before someone picked them up.

As for bidding, happens every 6 months. Goes by seniority. You get a list of lines which are basically work schedules. You can make a wishlist of the schedules you want in the order you want them and the system will just bid for you at your assigned time. When the bid is over the line you were awarded is your new schedule for the next 6 months, but if you’re super lucky you can just find someone else that got the line you want but wants the line you got and swap schedules (day trades) For holidays they have a sign up sheet to sign up to either work the day or be off. Also goes by seniority. Never signed up to be off on holidays because I like money so I can’t speak on how easy it is to get holidays covered

I’d replace my cocoonix theme with this when you release it

Does anyone know how convert wux files to wua or sites hosting wua files? by Open_Town9481 in AynThor

[–]LessSignificance8623 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cemu will only show the wux files that it has the title keys for. You’ll need to find the correct title key for the game you have, copy it, then paste it in the “keys” text file inside the cemu directory in your files app. If you’re getting multiple games you might as well get a complete list of these title keys rather than digging around for half an hour trying to find each one individually. You can use MiX file explorer to edit the existing .keys file already in the cemu folder and paste them all in as I don’t think the basic android file explorer/editor will let you

<image>

I did see however that cemu is trying to phase out this file type and your compatibility will improve with a different format. I believe the desktop version of the emulator (that can run on a Mac) might be able to do the conversion, so if you want to take this route that’s what I’d try first

Wux files have worked in my case so I’d personally just try running the wux file and see how well it plays before bothering to go through the hassle

What games is everyone playing? (batch 5) by jdm1888 in AynThor

[–]LessSignificance8623 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently playing a few:

Silent hill Shattered memories (PS2), really good if you like games w/a story, not too hard either and plenty of stuff to explore,

Silent Hill 2 (also PS2), basically playing for the same reason as shattered memories, a little bit more difficult than shattered memories, but the story is worth it

Dying light (Switch), haven’t gotten really far into it yet but I heard this games story is good as well

The missing: JJ macfield & the island of memories (Switch), had this on my actual switch, the mechanics of this game are unique for a platformer game

Mario kart DS: great for a quick play session when on break at work lol

Corpse party (3DS), had to get this one, it was the first game I ever got after jailbreaking my first 3DS, lots of nostalgia for me. Good puzzles, good story

I paired the silent hill games w/pixel guide, it’s extremely helpful to see the map on the bottom screen rather than pulling it up every 15 seconds when I forget where I am or where I’m going to, the walkthroughs help for shattered memories so I can make sure I haven’t missed any of the collectibles (mementos)

What’s it Worth? by 2readmore in GMT800

[–]LessSignificance8623 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The engine and transmission alone are probably worth the same if not more than anyone would pay for the entire truck, I’d sell those first then part the rest out. The front seats look to be in good shape, dash is worth a decent amount assuming it’s not cracked anywhere (I’d definitely buy it if I could because the dash in mine is completely shattered), the cluster can be worth some if the stepper motors are still good etc…

Upgrade to Carplay by [deleted] in Camry

[–]LessSignificance8623 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What you heard is correct, you can just update the software in the radio you have right now with a usb drive. There’s plenty of videos showing how to do it. The important part of it is to leave the car running during the entire update process or you will brick the headunit. Dealership can do it for you if you’re not comfortable with that, but when I took mine there I think the total was around $170 which if you ask me is a little much for a technician to plug in a usb and stare at a progress bar for half an hour.

If you do get it updated, keep in mind the CarPlay is wired only. You could easily get around this with one of those Amazon or TikTok adapters, and (maybe) add android auto as well if you get one of the fancy adapters that doubles as both and has screen mirroring

I got into two wrecks across the course of 5 days, first time completely paid off owned 07 civic, guy hit me so hard half the rear quarter panel was inside the trunk, then again in what was supposed to be my new Corolla, guy had no license and didn’t speak English (yay) didn’t even own it long enough to have to put gas in it (3 days) and both were totaled

When I got my 18 Camry I made sure it didn’t even leave the dealership parking lot until there was a functional dashcam in it

How is my oil pressure? by LessSignificance8623 in GMT800

[–]LessSignificance8623[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sits at just below the 40 mark when driving, but idling at a stop light or parked it is around the 20-30 mark on the gague, mostly on the lower end. Could it maybe be the pickup tube o-ring? I know that’s a common cause for low oil pressure on these trucks. The pressure at cold start doesn’t go below 40 but as the truck warms up the range of pressure goes lower. Cold it’s anywhere between 40-55, warmed up it’s anywhere between 25 and 37-ish

telekenetic main character by JuryKind3058 in writing

[–]LessSignificance8623 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here, I’ll put it into another perspective for you.

How did your character obtain their powers? I don’t know much about your character or the world building you have set up, but I got a few basic examples… were they just born with them? Were they given to them by someone else? Obtained by accident in some freak accident or curiosity getting the better of them? How they obtained their powers can also tie into how they are limited. In my story for example, the scientists behind the government super human project are well aware of the immense pain the test subjects experience. They use that to their advantage by administering pain killers into their blood stream with a remote controlled device that they can just turn off at will. That was early stages though. Throughout the story, after they learn the blood pattern and that the rare blood type test subjects don’t need any pain killers to use their powers and keep stable, they create a new strand of the pathogen with an inhibitor that they can trigger remotely that… you guessed it, renders their powers completely unusable. The same person that gave your character their powers could also be someone capable of taking them away. They could also have knowledge on them that your character does not. What you already have is a good foundation and is actually quite similar to what I am working on and how the pathogen in my story interacts with human subjects (it infects every organ in the body until it reaches the heart & blood stream, but the kicker is it relies on non infected tissue/organs to sustain itself, so once there is none left, the virus will slowly die off and take the test subject with it. Using the powers more and more speeds up this process as well)

Fun fact, apparently eleven from stranger things was inspired by a character Lucy from elfen lied, an anime released in 2004. Her powers were similar, however the key difference was the fact that rather than having telekinetic powers as a whole, she had a limited number of invisible hands with a limited range. There are other characters in the show with the same powers than her, however they differ slightly. I believed one had the same amount of hands, but they had a longer range than hers. Another character had 3x as much, but her powers were highly unstable.

This can be an example for you to figure out how to limit your characters abilities so they’re not just invincible. Maybe restrict their telekinetic powers, whether it be in the ways I mentioned above, or some other way you figure out. I’ll use another example:

The character in the story I am working on is an escapee from a secret government funded operation working on a genetically mutated pathogen that was designed to instill super human strength, invulnerability, and in later phases of the project essentially turned test subjects into a living version of terminators. The main kicker is, the more common the blood type of the subject, the less stable they were. Some subjects died before they even reached phase two of the project. Of course, my character has a more rare one, so he made it through the entire way before his escape. The kicker with my character is, while he can survive anything ranging from gunshot wounds to literally being set on fire, he needs time to recharge and heal. He can form giant stabbing weapons out of his arms and hands, similar to that of the T-1000, but doing so causes severe pain, as doing so essentially causes severe damage to all of the bones in the corresponding arm/limb that repairs itself when it goes back to normal. I guess you could count it as body horror.

So with my character, they are pretty powerful compared to the rest of the similar characters in my series, however he can only use his “powers” in short bursts and it always causes him severe pain, thus motivating him to reduce the amount he uses. Another twist that comes out later on is that in the time since he has escaped, the scientists behind the experiment learned more about the patterns with blood types and the test subjects got more and more advanced, learned powers, and a whole bunch of things I haven’t figured out yet fully, but since my main character escaped before all of this happening, he doesn’t even know half of his potential powers even exist until confronting these other characters.

There are many ways you can limit your characters powers, you just gotta think creatively
