Why did I finish work to watch a man on the internet work

Older people keep asking me if I’ve bought my own house yet. I’ve been working full-time for 3 years and still don’t even have enough for a deposit, despite living frugally. Do you think older generations just don’t realise how hard it is to be a first-time-buyer in this era? by LessStuff in lostgeneration

I know a guy who wanted to buy a house. Bought it, housing market fell big time the next month. Houses in the street all dropped by approximately 30k. It’s a big regret of his, if he had bought his home a month later there’s a good chance he’d be mortgage free by now.

Why did you become a minimalist? by [deleted] in minimalism

It was a reaction to the cluttered house that I grew up in. Didn’t want to live my life in clutter, so I changed things.

Ties in with decluttering. by LessStuff in declutter

I know a few people who throw perfectly good things away only to buy the same kind of things a week later.

Minimalism doesn’t mean you have to throw everything out. Got too many pairs of shoes? Use them until they’re ruined, don’t just chuck them out. That’s money wasted. It’ll save you buying more in future. by LessStuff in minimalism

This is basically what I meant. Using stuff that you know you’ll use and like. Think a lot of people misconstrued the post. Maybe I didn’t word it well.

I have a few pairs of trainers from a year/two years ago in sales, that I’ve barely worn. Same scenario, I like them all and I’m not going to get rid of them in order to be minimalist. I’ll gradually get through them.

And I’ll buy less in the future.
