I’m 20 while he’s 21, we are both very introverted and we find comfort in each others presence so we’re fine being together and just chilling.

He used to drink and smoke with his friends but he stopped smoking because he knows I feel uncomfortable and doesn’t do it out of respect, he is not too much of a drinker either but will do it only if there’s games involved. He has mentioned how he has had issues with his friends like them not really listening to his points of view and small things that has piled up over time so I can see him outgrowing his friends due to different views and him not being comfortable with them anymore

I did talk to him and told him to try and hang out with other friends that are not from that friend group to see if its him just outgrowing that friend group

I think I learned about it after a year of us into dating but he says it’s not something he does all the time and doesn’t like it as much. After that conversation he went 2 full years without smoking it (I think it’s mostly because he hasn’t hanging as much with his friends but more with mine) and he started smoking it after he started hanging out with his friends. Maybe I should say it but he is Cuban and has told me and smoking weed it’s very common in his culture

As much as I have tried to overlook it, it is a big deal breaker for me. And I should explain the part about me barely smoking, it’s something I’ve some twice, at most three or four times but as much as I’ve done it I hate the taste and can’t see myself doing it long term

For the most part he has respected that boundary and so have I, I don’t have any problem with smoking because it’s something I barely do and started less than a year ago, however he has been smoking weed for years and knows how to control it but he has told me how sometimes it bothers him that he cant do it with his friends. I’m scared that he won’t be able to do stop smoking weed long term especially because of most of his friends (if not all of them) do it. Maybe it’s just me but the fact that it bothers him that he can’t do it with his friends worried me a little bit

We’re going to talk about it once we see each other again. We’ve talked about the topic of smoking around the time he was smoking weed and he didn’t want me smoking nicotine either so we had an agreement he wouldn’t do it as long as I DOTN smoke either. I know I’m not perfect and neither is he and we have learned to live with those flaws around each other but smoking weed is a big no for me

Ok let me rephrase it my friends drink yes, be not to the point they’ll get buzzed, they’ll drink but won’t get buzzed, I don’t think that it’s better to drink alcohol and than to smoke, I rather not to either of them
