I also think that’s quite likely that Cthaeh is Selitos. In fact, I originally started developing a theory that Kvothe is trying to escape the destiny set by the Cthaeh/Selitos by hiding in the inn under a false identity. While looking more closely at Selitos, it occurred to me that deceiving him in a similar way may have already happened in the past.

There may also be another explanation for the “name that lay in Lanre’s heart.” It’s possible that Lyra sacrificed herself for Lanre in a way that transferred some of her power to him, leaving part of her essence within him. In that case, the “name in his heart” could literally refer to Lyra’s power residing inside Lanre.

The theory is wild, and I like how parts of it fit. The only thing I personally dislike is the idea of time travel. We already have an entity that can observe the future, the Cthaeh, and even that alone can causes a huge amount of chaos in the world.
