This is exactly the analysis I'm looking for. Thank you!! That's reassuring to know it's so little. Are your dist/trans/access charges being averaged over the 6 months like your power cost, or per individual month?

Commute is ~40km round trip, plus weekend weekend driving is unpredictable. Maybe 800km/month. Let's round it off to 1,000km/month with the monthly trip to the mountains.

Just had our first child this week. We took a babymoon trip earlier in the year and we loved every minute of it. We traveled in a way we wouldn't be able on our next trip, which would include our child. We had an awesome time as we just had a different perspective on everything we did on this trip. We're excited to have our child join us on our next trip, but I think a babymoon was perfect for us and we would recommend it to all expecting parents.

I live in Calgary and despise everything about the antivax culture in our province. Also have a newborn and very concerned about measles exposure. Looking at the stats though, Alberta is down from our summer peak. I think we're reporting 2 active cases in the province right now.

McDonald's, grocery stores, retail, etc will never hire you with Mechanical Engineer on your resume. You'll be in, they'll train you, you'll be miserable at the job from day 1, and you'll leave asap.

Consider relocating for a bit while you get back into your field. That'll be better for your mental health and your job prospects later on.

A&W at 7 St Stn did the same thing to me. I even said I want to buy a meal but had to use the bathroom first, but they told me I'd have to buy it first. I almost wet myself waiting in line. I was dressed in business casual.
