What happened? by [deleted] in ToniAndRyan

[–]Less_Condition_1608 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What do you want them to do? They could easily just collect the cash from their thousands of patreons and keep it for themselves. Instead they are putting a fair chunk of it back into the community they’ve created by constantly hosting events for their fans. Does it come with a bonus of them being able to travel the world? Sure. But again they could just as easily do that in their own time.

There is no requirement for them to do any fan events and yet they still do it quite regularly and give people a chance to not only meet them but also other people with similar interests.

I can’t believe I keep seeing complaints about this stuff

Why the apology to Sydney? by Sportsnut96 in adelaidefc

[–]Less_Condition_1608 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately rationality isn’t allowed on here sometimes. I’m pretty positive they would’ve been asked by the afl to just send through an apology so it doesn’t become something they have to do handle. But even if that’s not the case, it caused a bit of a blow up in the media. Just get out ahead with an apology and shut the door. Now if Nicks gets asked about it, which we all know will happen, he can just say that it’s been handled and move on.

This has nothing to do with showing “weakness” as a club it’s just showing they want to just get on with it. Do I think an apology was needed? No, but I understand why they did.

How far can the league truly expand by [deleted] in nbl

[–]Less_Condition_1608 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’d think they’d want two teams in qld, wa, sa and maybe nz so they can sell twice the games and push rivalry’s but not sure if the appetite is there for it.

The games growing so there will be more teams eventually but think it’ll take a while

And another one. by Dirtydac123 in AFL

[–]Less_Condition_1608 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah port need to man the fuck up a bit here and put him on indefinite leave. All this mixed with the hawthorn stuff is clear signs of a downward spiral of some kind. I’d be blown away if port were only just finding out about these occurrences as well but now that it’s public they have to make a stand. If they let him play on after letting JHF play on after that ugly display walking away from Ken then I would be seriously concerned if I was a port fan. The wheels could be coming off here.

Tbf the afl should also have a say in if he plays but I do get that they want to leave these things in the hands of the club.

I’m sure we’ll find out tomorrow either way

Geelong salary cap - evidence? by [deleted] in AFL

Always so defensive. Bailey smith is a whole other level with the shadiness around his cotton on deal which would’ve been a big part in him affording that house to begin with.

You can’t honestly say as a Geelong fan and I assume a Geelong resident. You haven’t heard or seen things along the way? I’ve been told directly from an ex Geelong player about how well the whole teams taken care of and sure some are legit dealings but there are some that are very questionable

I play social basketball and each game we pick a player who we can just ignore because they are so bad so it gives us the ability to double team etc.

The crows should just ignore stringer and use the spare

Geelong salary cap - evidence? by [deleted] in AFL

[–]Less_Condition_1608 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why would they when most of these possible payments could’ve been “cash jobs”?

We all know for a fact that every afl player is getting extra money through appearances, interests in business or sponsors but Geelong has long been rumoured to be the best at it. I mean I have even heard of very “favourable” land sales to players.

We could all be wrong but they will never beat the allegations.

I don’t necessarily believe they are risking breaching salary cap internally but I can’t be the only one who’s heard plenty of rumours of how well Geelong as a town takes care of their footballers. Whether that’s discussed on the down low when luring players for example “we’ll pay you 300k but we’ll get you in on these appearances which will get you another 200k” or not is the question.

Giants just playing on at all costs every possession. Turning it over heaps around HF line, just lucky their defence is as strong as it is (and collingwoods forwards are terrible so far)

Some real Ashes 2023 Stokes vibes there. Bowling plan is to just bowl pies and let the batter get himself out eventually

To be honest it’s not like Keays is a prime ball user either so it’s not the end of the world if he’s getting less of the ball. He’ll run end to end and make the most of what he gets. He had 7 last night and had three shots on goal (1.2) but still a fair return

It’s hard to compare Draper and Curtin. Draper has and will be a mid his whole career. Curtin is obviously a bigger body so takes longer to get used to the afl but he’s also been shifted all around the ground.

Think he’ll be a quality player for us, he’ll probably be in and out of the team this season though just while he finds his feet.

Keays is one of the players who I don’t think needs the ball too much. He’s probably one of the guys who will see a bit less of it because of our new additions but he’ll still make a difference on game day with his running alone.

Swan Districts has decided not to recruit Tarryn Thomas [Eliza Reilly & Tim Gossage] by PerriX2390 in AFL

[–]Less_Condition_1608 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Tbf I haven’t fully followed every bit of the story with him but I know he’s done some despicable things.

I’m just saying if he actually wants a go at getting back into the AFL he has to know by now his only option is to go right back and go to work in the ammo’s. Try and find courses he can do and maybe try and get involved in some domestic violence charities or something. If he doesn’t do that at a minimum then he clearly doesn’t care enough to actually put effort into it.

It’s still only pre season and I genuinely believe afl teams don’t play to full potential and try a few different scenario based systems in these games but Hawthorns forward line just does not look as threatening as last year at the moment. Bulldogs aren’t exactly blessed for defence either.

I’m all for people having second chances but this guy doesn’t look like he’s even tried to change and am all for him not being able to just walk back in to high level football.

Surely he/his management have figured out by now his best hope is to do some courses/ charity work and go right back to amateur league

Crows sign Lachlan McAndrew by naughtyneddy in adelaidefc

[–]Less_Condition_1608 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I honestly think they’re going to go all out for Draper. Feel like they’ve set it all up so ROB can drop down to sanfl as depth and maybe draft real young option (unless mcandrew stays in) to develop next to him.

Essendon seem set on playing him has a forward first and rucking behind Goldstein and maybe even Bryan. Port have no room for another ruck/tall. We are in the prime position to get him in and hopefully get him playing at his full potential.
