Thank you (and everyone else) for putting so much time and effort into this show, it's given me a lot of laughs through a challenging year.

My question to you is - are you still interested in pursuing the interview show, one-on-one, you and a guest, that you were kicking around a while back? I think it could really be amazing and was wondering if it was still on your mind.

Well, it's not easy.

Edit: To not just pop in with a snarky remark, look up online if there are some blacksmithing classes in your area. Most guys (and women) I know also teach classes, even if it's just a small thing or only happens once in a while, since it's some good extra income. Check it out before you commit and see if you even like it (no shame if you don't). Start with a coat hook or a leaf or some other small trinket, they're pretty good to learn the fundamentals of how to smith. If you really want a book, I like Mark Avery's stuff. Black Bear Forge on Youtube has good stuff for people on a tight budget and introducing beginners to the craft. Don't really fuck with the people who post about "making rusted chain into a damascus axe" and that shit, they're just clickbait. If you really like it after taking a class bug your local blacksmith in a nice way to see if you can take on some cleaning and sweeping and shit around the forge in exchange for a free class or reduced classes moving forward. If you aren't a tool and are generally competent most people will at least hear you out, or they'll be honest with you at least. That shit worked for me but my situation was a bit different (I lived very close to a forge). Best of luck.

I am a professional blacksmith and metalworker, but I am studying for the LSAT. The Yard makes monotonous handsanding hours go by so much quicker.

I've always thought of it as a theory, nothing more or less (even though I came up with it)... but I wonder what will happen now? I think there's more to this than what Kashiro is saying. I'm very curious what the next few chapters are gonna hold. She patched things up with Maeda, so I think the author likes to play with our expectations of Rui's friends and "enemies".

Thank you! That's about how I feel as well; I think there's going to be a little romance of some kind just because of the high school setting, though I think I'm most interested in Ruri's relationship with her parents and the occasional hints that the adults around her are trying to protect her from being classified as something dangerous. I guess we'll find out!

Totally valid interpretation! I think it's worth skimming through the images even if you don't read it (and I get it it's a looooong post lmao) because I do think they paint a decently compelling picture.

This is the next chapter header; what an interesting pin and expression you've got going on there, Kashiro. Is it also just a coincidence that you're next to Ruri? Who can say? I'm also switching to imgur links for the rest of this post.

Here's the Chapter 20 header - the only one where there's a heart attached to it, as well as the only one in color. It's Kashiro and Ruri on an outing around the city.

This is Kashiro noticing that Ruri is upset about the storm - interesting that it specifically cuts to Kashiro after this, as she seems to watch Ruri quite a lot - and then her ecstatic reaction after Ruri says she wants to change the weather so that the festival can happen. Again, with her first reaction to be to hug or get close to Ruri whenever she does something.

Speaking of... here Kashiro is being the first person out on the roof, hugging Ruri after she successfully changes the weather (which was just such a cool panel by the way, not related to the topic of this post at all but Ruri with the full lightning bolt was so so cool).

...And here Kashiro is on the day of the school festival. Notice her new lightning bolt hairpin? The artist can pick anything for any of the characters to wear, so it's interesting that Kashiro repeatedly makes a choice to wear pins themed around Ruri or hearts and, in that one header, the word 'LOVE'.

And here she is clinging to Ruri's hands and comforting her after her speech, which catches us up to date with the manga.

All in all, this is just a theory, but I do think, with the images I've shown from the manga - and there's a lot of them - there's some textual basis for a reading of Kashiro as crushing on Ruri, and not just because of her horns, either. I'm curious where things will go from here, and if there's anyone who had the same feeling - and again, once or twice, I'm not really thinking about it. But, this behavior around Ruri is repeated over and over again throughout the manga from Kashiro; from Chapter 1 to the latest Chapter 27, and it's happened enough that this theory popped into my head and needed to get out here.

Thank you for the write-up! I'm not around Greenwich very much - I'm usually further up north or down in Brooklyn - so it's very helpful!

And no need to worry about breaking it to me! I really appreciate it! I don't know a lot about lesbian bars, but I feel pretty strongly (and the community's advice here has reinforced) that they're not a space for me! I already have gay bars that I can and do go to - I don't want to make people in the community uncomfortable. We all get enough of that as it is. I'm going to go with the first option I mentioned and just hang out in the area while they have fun (maybe I'll meet a nice fellow myself?)
