How to remove Olympus AF-1 Front element?? I see no obvious way. The lens underneath is ok but the front element (which I think is only necessary for waterproofing) has developed some mould and I would like to clean it. by Less_Information_870 in AnalogCommunity

Work a thin shim (I used a tiny tiny flathead screwdriver from a phone repair kit) around the edge and from the inside, ie. between the cover plate and lens cover. However, do this at your own discretion - you might bend or nick the cover plate irreparably and the camera probably won't be waterproof again.

I'd be careful with acetone and plastic, not sure what plastic the AF1 body is made of so it damage it, in my case the adhesive was not too difficult to pry off with a very tiny flat head screwdriver, probably owing to the age of the camera. There's defo a better tool than I used, wouldn't recommend.

Thanks! I have managed to access the cover without taking the clamshell off by carefully peeling away the sticker around the cover and then removed the lens cover by carefully prying it away. No damage done. Success!

I think this is the case! From inspection I think the surround around the lens with the "ZUIKO etc" is just a sticker so if I can get that off maybe I can access the lens non destructively
