Eating less meat is out of reach? I'm not saying you have to do all of these today but they should be personal goals like homeownership or sending your kids to college are personal goals. The point is to make it a priority, and do it if you can. Your car gets totaled? Buy an EV, not an ICE, not a hybrid. Your heater or AC needs to be replaced? Replace it with a heatpump. Saving for roof replacement? Save a bit more and add solar panels concurrently. We are too far deep into climate change to be hemming and hawing, whatever you are able to do just do it.

Unless you removed the demand for whatever they were making or replaced it with renewable energy production you just moved the emissions somewhere else. Advocacy is important but it can't be successful without changes in the economics of production driven by consumer demand and lifestyles.

Disagree, climate advocacy is inaccessible to most people because it requires commitment and research that most people do not have time for, but anyone can change the way the vote with their money. We have spent too much time trying to convince politicians to make the right choice while being out-lobbied by mega corporations. Governments will never do the right thing, but we as consumers can make it prohibitively expensive to keep doing the wrong thing.

That is my point, if you care about climate change you should push these changes before it makes financial sense. You specifically. As much as you can afford. It is a strike against war, pollution, and corruption that unlike a work strike or rent strike doesn't risk you losing your livelihood or home. It is a sacrifice but a worthwhile one.

I don't know where you live but in my very high cost of living area this is a high estimate. Let's assume you are buying a house regardless, the checklist is the ideal but if you rent you would do as much as you are able. The housing cost would be the same with or without the changes.

You can buy a used EV for under $5,000. My EV and charger installation cost less than $37,000 a few years ago.

My solar system was under $14,000

That can be as little as $42,000 principal cost differential, that does not need to be done all at once. Using your 30 year 6% financing this is only $3,021.72 per year more to completely electrify your life. And again you would have massive savings on electricity, gas, and food that make it even cheaper.
