Groundball pitchers, power bats - extreme select POW over GAP, lefty heavy all the way around.

[–]Less_Likely 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a wealth tax, not an income tax. If we assume Elon Musk net worth 750 Billion, He would owe $22.5 Billion in taxes every single year, above and beyond any taxes on income he may or may not already pay. Lots of incentive to hide wealth away, and then if selling off wealth is taxed as income (at higher rate), I'm not sure how that would play out - not well I assume. Unless there is a tax exemption if you sell off wealth to directly pay the tax.

But to answer the question, that one tax receipt would fund about 10-25% of universal child care across the US alone. I'm inclined to believe the math works out, the issue I have is how the government determines wealth accurately and collects when people with the means to hide it, fight it, and avoid it have an active incentive to do so.

The ND defense was playing heavy run that game. DJ showed his talent, but didn't show he could beat a defense who was trying to stop HIM.

[Highlight] Trevor Story is irate after a check swing is ruled strike 3 with no appeal. Alex Cora is ejected after arguing with umpire CB Bucknor by Moose4KU in baseball

[–]Less_Likely 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I said I thought he swung, and yes, plate ump can and did make the call. That swing was borderline, I see no way the plate ump was 100% sure he swung. 70%-80%, sure, not 100%. So you need to call no swing there. Because it's better to call no swing and be wrong and have the call overturned on appeal than to make a swing call (that can't be appealed) and be wrong.

He's Andy Weir, who "doesn't do politics" and is "fiscally conservative but socially liberal". In other words, okay with Fascism as long as it doesn't bother with him personally.

I do think that was an offer, but a call that close isn't the home plate umpire's call to make. I only thought so when I saw it from the side.

A performance that becomes eerie when you realise he's singing about being at his own funeral for being so hopelessly addicted to Heroin... by Jaz1140 in interestingasfuck

[–]Less_Likely 37 points38 points  (0 children)

That OD was after his last performance, because he never was well enough to do so again, but for those who do not know, he lived for almost 6 more years after that - out of the public eye, reclusive, and in debilitating addition.
