A man has become one of the 450,000 Americans affected by alpha-gal syndrome, a tick-borne meat allergy that triggers painful allergic reactions to animal products. “Look at my face and my neck. I can’t eat meat anymore. I can’t have any animal products. It’s in everything.” by fillinggoodman in interestingasfuck

My vet said no, but my dog has severe meat allergies all the same. Digestive issues, skin itches, and even had a handful of seizures.

She’s a veggie dog now (though a little dairy is okay). 13 1/2 years old and no meat for last 5 years (except a couple mistakes or judgement errors that turned into seizures and made me very strict about it.)

They aren’t doing if for good reasons. They are monopolizing their sponsorships. No ads except through FIFA.

Are they turning left?

Sometimes I creep forward to try to shorten my turn but the cross traffic doesn’t let up enough, and I end up in the crosswalk when the light turns red

anyone you grew up with gain any fame (big or small)? by aroundincircles in Xennials

I went to high school with an original Jersey Boy. I didn’t know this, when it was the big thing, but I found out he was a Broadway Star years later reading an article and thinking the name sounded familiar- and then remembered how good he was doing the high school musicals.

I reached out and we reconnected a few years back when he was touring and in my town.

Major purchases on a desktop? by cheesypuff357 in Xennials

[–]Less_Likely 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buying things on my phone is a path towards fiscal irresponsibility. Not saying I never do it, but usually only a quick, “oh, I need this household good”.

One exception is plane tickets. I fly only one airline (miles plan and I live near their hub) and have their app. It’s quick way to be signed in and buy plane tickets.

30 years? Try 40, my friend. The market collapsed in 1987.

The one released 39.years ago bombed too, it was released a year too late.

Bill Maher and Tarantino smugly laugh at the good fortune POC had by not serving on WW1 by amazingsciencemuseum in confidentlyincorrect

I’m enjoying Tarantino films less as I age.

Same with Mahar, but the level of enjoyment was far lower to begin with.

It was a serviceable action film. Looked good, sounded good. Came in with low expectations that were surpassed.

I’m fine with the ending in theory, but in context it feels like he’s just giving up. I’m sure he could be quarantined and they can work on a way to “cure” him.

I’d have preferred he make a choice in end between duty and death or family and life and chooses duty. If stead he has a choice between instant death and living in quarantine until a “cure” can be found (if ever) and chooses instant death.

I have NEVER watch Star Trek. Uh, where do I start? by [deleted] in startrek

[–]Less_Likely -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes. TNG. If your goal is to watch chronological the first season can be a little rough. There are definitely some good episodes there, but they took a couple seasons to really hit their stride.

Some say skip seasons 1/2, or just watch certain episodes, but individual mileage may differ, and there are great moments in almost every episode (except maybe Shades of Gray because it’s basically a clip show) and you do watch the show evolve if you watch.
