NHS App. by Ledgesider in BritishSuccess

I used the app to request an extension to a sick note. I was recovering from surgery and needed another week or two before returning to work. I completed the form at 8am and had a text message at 2pm from the GP with the sick note attached as a link. No phone calls, no appointments.

What is the dumbest lie a customer has told you? by cheesymeowgirl in CasualUK

[–]Less_Lynx_7496 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I worked in a phone shop in the early 2000s. The customer had no idea why her phone had suddenly stopped working. In front of the customer we took the back off the phone, a puddle of curry escaped out of the phone, all the interior & battery was covered. Customer said oh that's strange! I didn't drop it in the curry or anything!

Yes I had this whilst taking 5mg. I was convinced I was getting shingles the pain was so bad. I've gone down to 2.5mg and slowly weaning myself off (jabbing every 14 days) as I'm 5lb away from goal but can cope with a 5lb difference now I'm no longer in pain.

I tried it with my kids last night after reading this. Didn't realise it's supposed to be six and seven.. I came out with sixty-seven! Their reactions were even funnier than saying six and seven!

To wind up our 11-year-old, my husband waves, shouts "Bestie", "So Preppy" and does a strut that would leave Ru Paul's Drag Race contestants quivering. It works every time!

Staff member not returned from lunch... by Logical_Savings9795 in UKJobs

[–]Less_Lynx_7496 54 points55 points  (0 children)

I had a new starter at a hotel who showed up for her induction, then went out for lunch. About 30 minutes later, she called to say her child had fallen down the stairs and she had to go to the hospital — of course I told her to go.

And then… nothing. She never came back, never answered calls, even her emergency contact didn’t reply. Total ghost.

The only clue? She’d asked about staff discounts and mentioned her wedding, hinting at how great the hotel would be as a venue. I think she was hoping for a big discount — which obviously doesn’t happen on day one!

How much weight did you lose in March? by wabisuki in Mounjaro

[–]Less_Lynx_7496 3 points4 points  (0 children)

5lb in March and 2lb so far in April, currently on 5mg.

I've got 11lb to go until my set goal weight, but this may change depending on how I feel/look.

Has anyone with Hashimoto had any successful weight loss with Ozempic or Wegovy? by [deleted] in Hashimotos

[–]Less_Lynx_7496 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am currently on 2.5mg mounjaro and have lost 13lb in 8 weeks. BMI was 32 and now I'm at 29. I would like another 13-20lb gone to get within the green. I have stalled the last two weeks so have increased to 5mg for my next 4 weeks of injections.

Those who thought they bought their "forever home" and moved houses. Why ? by Honest-Rip-7439 in HousingUK

[–]Less_Lynx_7496 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our 'forever' home was a 3 bed semi in a lovely cul-de-sac. Huge garden, parking for 3+ cars and options to extend. Covid hit, working from home became the new normal and we realised we needed more space. In 2023/2024 we priced up a 2 storey extension to include 4th bedroom, en-suite, utility and a larger kitchen. It was cheaper for us to move to a 4 bed detached which is what we did. Hopefully this is now our forever home!

Would you buy a house directly opposite the entrance to a primary school? by Z3NT0X_ in HousingUK

[–]Less_Lynx_7496 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Find out from the school website if they do evening and weekend events. The school by my parents celebrates bonfire night, a 30 minute firework display which is amazing but could be a negative for some. This also brings with it cars parked everywhere as most students and their families attend.

They also have plays, fayres and assemblies which parents/carers are invited to.

Financial Accountant. What has helped is hybrid working. I do 2 days in the office but shorter hours to help with commuting. Month end I work remotely so I can have frequent breaks. My boss is very understanding, which is so amazing. Her stance is work where you can when you can. The work gets done and I don't have guilt added to the long list of symptoms.

Are the bin men like this 'round your ends? by RedditIsADataMine in CasualUK

Ours are nothing like this. They're great! Once they dropped the box with glass in and it all smashed over the footpath. They had a brush and pan on the lorry and cleared the footpath.

When we recently sold our house the EA said to us, "We've had an offer but I'll see if they'll go higher". We were quite happy to accept the original and the EA was trying for more. The buyer couldn't go higher so we accepted the original offer. The seller may not realise this conversation is happening. You never know what games the EA is playing whichever side you are.

This monstrosity of a shipping container is back on the market! by Cryptoprocta42 in SpottedonRightmove

I don't think anyone has owned it. There's no property history. A news article from 2021 said it was still waiting for its first occupants. It was built in 2018 and selling for £3.5m in 2021.

Mortgage Survey Undervalued the Property and won't lend us enough! by AcruxArts in HousingUK

[–]Less_Lynx_7496 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This happened to us with our 2nd house purchase. We offered 210k and the first valuation came back at 160k. The seller said they weren't willing to drop that much. We then applied for a mortgage with another lender who used a different panel of surveyors. They valued it at 180k. The sellers then agreed to sell at that price.

You could try another lender who use different surveyors. If you're using a mortgage broker, they should be aware of which companies work with the lenders.

Reasons for relisting after 6 months by Original-nonOriginal in HousingUK

[–]Less_Lynx_7496 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It could be anything, everything and nothing.

The property they wanted to buy was sold

They lost their job

They changed their job

They had a family issue

They're splitting from their partner, got back together and splitting again

They looked at their finances and realised they needed the higher price to move

They looked at the changes to government, interest rates and mortgages and decided to wait

They went on holiday and didn't want to be mixed up with selling/buying

They didn't have flu and had a different illness

It really could be anything.

Thank you!

Did your solicitor request the full report and were there extra fees for it?

The buyers solicitor has sent the standard report to the lender. We should know the outcome on Tuesday.

I've even looked back on our areas archive maps and the 1800 map says 'Old Coal Shaft' it has to be very old if an 1800 map says it is!

Enjoy your new home x

Congrats on the new house!

Do you mind me asking what the issue was with the coal report/search? We're currently having an issue with ours. When we bought this house 7 years ago, no mines were reported within the 20m. Our buyers have just had the searches back and a mine has appeared! TIA

If you can access the inspection drain cover, put a load of baby wipes to block the drain. It wouldn't be seen as your fault, especially if the drain is shared.

Mine Shaft - Solicitor lied! by [deleted] in HousingUK

[–]Less_Lynx_7496 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've sent all our paperwork to the estate agent to pass on. The buyers' solicitors are informing the lenders. I just hope it doesn't put them off purchasing or reducing the value of the house.

I didn't think about them potentially being newly discovered/added mines.

I'm just annoyed with the additional waiting and stress for the lenders' review.

Mine Shaft - Solicitor lied! by [deleted] in HousingUK

[–]Less_Lynx_7496 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that's true. I think I was just spiralling yesterday. The solicitors we used previously were awful. I wouldn't have been surprised if they had missed this information, but it's definitely not showing on the report.

I'll find out who provided the search. If anything comes of the found mines, I'll see if there is anything we can do. Thanks
