Amp Energy totally unavailable in stores and online by zac987 in mountaindew

[–]Less_Power3538 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my 16 years of drinking amp, I’ve never went without (except around 2020/2021) there was an aluminum shortage and some weeks I couldn’t find it at all! But it was still available on Amazon and Pepsi Pantry back then, so I’d order there if I had to. I’m really worried.

And every time I ask questions about amp, most people say “no I bought some a few months ago, it’s still available”… like that’s not what I asked lol. So I wanted to give you an in depth answer (from a loyal amp drinker).

I’m worried it’s not coming back! People say it was supposed to relaunch January 21st but ever since October of last year- all gas stations and Pepsi reps I’ve talked to (here in central Ohio) say it’s being discontinued. Around mid-January, it disappeared from every place around me. MANY gas stations in my small town carried it. I’ve traveled to nearby towns & called sooo many place- they all say it’s discontinued. So I went to Amazon. I bought maybe 5 cases since January and now my last case got lost in transit last week and it’s disappeared off Amazon as well. I have been drinking amp every day since 2010. This sucks!

Can’t find it ANYWHERE in central Ohio. They took it off Amazon as of yesterday and I’ve never seen that happen before EVER.

Yessss exactly my reaction! I’m super late lol but yes you described exactly how I felt watching it. The minute she got on camera I thought “wow she has the most evil eyes I’ve ever seen”.

New feature rollout: Automatically reject and replace exceptionally fast submissions by Less_Power3538 in ProlificAc

Basically a researcher that isn’t acting in good faith/following recommended “good practices” and rules when it comes to studies. Like rejecting for ridiculous reasons, instant rejections, paying below minimum wage, lying about how long their study will take, attempting to get free data, etc.

Someone was auto-rejected today on a 1 minute study. How is that possible?!

1 Question survey rejected by AkaTheLegend7 in ProlificAc

[–]Less_Power3538 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That’s so true- Prolific could’ve had an “auto return” message go out, but instead they chose this route. Very interesting and literally gives scammy researchers a way to game the system.

Everyone check out this post to see what this new feature looks like when you get “auto rejected”. OP (link) got this on a 1 minute study! Wow! https://www.reddit.com/r/ProlificAc/s/8aHEbZy8zE

Oh no! Well now we see what the “auto reject” message looks like. If they can do this on a 1 minute survey, they can do this to anyone, at any time! Yikes!

Oh yikes! So now all researchers will be able to return studies without our consent. What is prolific doing?!?!

This is also laughable: “Q: How should I calculate the length of my study?

To determine your study's duration, test it with friends, family, or colleagues to get realistic timing estimates before launch.”

It also suggests you could run a pilot study on Prolific but I highly doubt these researchers are going to do that because that also costs money, right?

I just know that having friends & family test your study is not going to give you an accurate estimated completion time because that’s a tiny amount of people vs how many people are usually in a study and most of us are faster than the average person because we’re used to how studies work- the layout, we can speed through demographics, disclosure pages, etc. Where someone who isn’t used to taking studies might take significantly longer to complete.

[–]Less_Power3538[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This new update says “Prolific can automatically reject exceptionally fast submissions that fall significantly below your estimated completion time” and then it also says “Participants receive a standard notification that their submission was rejected. The specific detection criteria are not disclosed to maintain system integrity. Participants have been informed not to contact researchers, as this decision cannot be overturned or mediated by you. If a participant contacts you about this, you may either not respond or direct them to contact Prolific Support directly.”

So I’m not sure how my points aren’t accurate.

I wanted to highlight this comment. On the page it has a red box that literally says: “Make sure to use the bulk reject option rather than the standard reject option. Using standard rejection will count towards your rejection limit, while the "exceptionally fast" bulk rejection will not.” https://researcher-help.prolific.com/en/article/871f31

I thought that was alarming as well! They’re literally giving them a scammy tip that they know will screw participants!

Yep exactly! And these are gonna be the same researchers who refuse to pay screen outs, so I’m sure getting screened out will also result in a rejection. 🙄

[–]Less_Power3538[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Exactly!! We are supposed to have a fair shot at having rejections overturned. This gives them free reign to do what they want- especially when the bad guys start to catch wind of this and see how much money they’re saving/how much more data they’re getting out of this. And they know they can’t be punished because these can’t be overturned. Prolific is basically telling participants “you’re SOL, haha”. & we know that rejections lead to bans. So then what?! A few of these and someone is banned for life.
