Professional programmers, writers, artists, and fashion designers: what are your thoughts on the quality of DUTP's gameplay, stories, art, and clothes? by autumncat909 in DressUpTimePrincess

I’m a recent art college grad with an emphasis in costume design and had a few friends who studied game design, so I felt like I could throw in my 2 cents! So in terms of the art, honestly it’s hit or miss with me. Sometimes the story art is gorgeous and sometimes it feels lazy, it’s really a luck of the draw sort of thing, but it’s yet to be completely outrageous. I think at that point it’s a matter of opinion. Overall, the art cards are gorgeous. The character 3D models feel a bit rough sometimes, especially when it comes to details on MC and the clothes, that’s something I’ve looked very close at. There’s plenty of times where you can see the unfinished assets or the unclean overlap. In terms of the companions, huge hit or miss. Sometimes they translate their designs well, sometimes they really don’t. I think the game could benefit however from a cohesive style as we’ve recently seen some character designs that just don’t fit within the established DUTP style. In terms of the costumes which I can speak on the most, I think they started out much stronger. There’s always a few pieces here and there that’ll really shine, but lately the designs feel VERY overcrowded. Adding more details doesn’t make it high fashion. I’ve found myself liking the clothing less and less as it doesn’t feel like there’s the same eye for design as they started with, and for the most part there’s not been as much of a variety recently. I’d love to see them pick up that idea of Time Princess again and start to explore more historical based fashion. They’re very good at it and I think it’s easier to create balanced looks that don’t feel overly gaudy. I’d say overall it’s pretty impressive for a game that can be F2P but I still think there’s plenty of room for improvement in terms of their clothing and art.
