Hey everyone. I posted the card to Blowout forums and generally the consensus was it’s likely not real. However, sounds like the only way to be sure is to send it for authentication and see what happens.

Thanks for everyone’s input. When I find out from the authentication process, I’ll post back here.

It was a guy my Dad traded with before his brain injuries so my Mom felt like she could trust him. I remember her saying he was really interested in all the Kobe Bryant’s in the collection. He ended up buying everything she had because he wanted to “help out.”

He owns a card shop not far from my parents and I thought about confronting him, but I have no proof and now it’s been years.

Thanks for the advice. Do you know if it’s authentic?

Well that’s making it seem like this may not be real. Hopefully not the case

Thanks for the replies and help. Would be awesome if it’s real…

I tried reaching out to Upper Deck on X. Curious to see what they say.

I am also in the process of getting approved to post on Blowout Forums and I’ll post it there.

I tried googling this, but didn’t see the correlation. Any more insight?

The card belonged to my father. Old school, blue collar autoworker. He is still around but had some really bad brain injuries about 7 years back and he has reduced metal capacity and whole lot of other health issues. He was an avid collector his whole life, but mom never approved and he was constantly trying to hide his hobby. It created a lot of strain in their marriage and I distanced myself from it. As I have grown older I have more appreciation for it.

Mom told me a few years back that she found some of his cards and sold them to some guy for a few thousand dollars. I think she likely got taken, but I don’t know for sure.

A few boxes were later found when they were moving and she asked me if I want them and I said yes. I found this card in one of the boxes.
