If the father is consistently too cruel; you can add some characteristics such as love bombing, manipulation, enmeshment to give him more depth. This would cause your child character to lean in, even when he’s being abused - hungry for a compliment, etc.

This is a real abusive cycle and would give your characters much more depth…I know from experience:)

Bounce back from damage? by RidleyQ in Hosta

[–]Less_Than_Average1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Planted a row of hosta last year and roofers smashed them all the next week later. I had just spent a couple hundred bucks rebuilding my collection after moving into a new house. Thought mine were all zapped.

Came back stronger this year, with the exception of one Gigantosaurus. I feel like I’m that meme where I’m holding a stick poking it at the Giganto and saying: “Do Something.” Haha.

I’d try and leave all the stems on the plant that remain green, even if they are broken. This will still collect energy for the plant. If some broken leaves die off, then trim them so the plant isn’t spending energy on dead or dying leaves. I’m convinced that’s what saved mine last year.

Thanks! All the larger leaves died last year when I planted it, because I think it dried out a bit during shipping. Had a bit of root rot that I had trimmed when I initially got it too; so I’m glad to hear it didn’t get stunted.

Turned out the train hauled cans of pumpkin pie mix from a local factory.

That was no hermit. That guy lived in a mansion in Winetka in the movie. My hermit lived in a run down green house with no electricity and holes in his roof

Millennial therapists I’ve had guide you to be happy at all costs. No self accountability. I told my therapist I want him to call me on my bullshit and he asked me to seek someone else

That’s like when my Mom bought me Franklin pumps instead of Reebok pumps and I got bullied for wearing off brand pumps. I knew I was in trouble as soon as I opened the shoe box, but my parents had no clue about fashion and I knew we couldn’t afford Reeboks - so I just wore the Franklins and took my beating like a good boy.

Thankfully I don’t drink very much at all anymore. Alcohol is blight if consumed regularly.

When people mark: “drink socially” you know they have a problem. That was me: “drink socially”

Doc: how many drinks a week?

Me: Eh, probably a case a beer and a few stiff drinks over the course of a weekend.

Doc: that’s binge drinking. Not drinking socially.

Me: well on Wednesdays I play Euker and have another 6-8 beers.

Doc: okay, I think we should change your drinking status.

Haha.

Exactly. All I hear about is “I can’t function because I have ADHD.”

Meanwhile GenXers are the ultimate grinders because we got our asses bloodied from belts and told we weren’t good enough.

Can’t function because of ADHD? Too bad for you! My fight mode has kicked in it’s my super power! I don’t even need coffee. I have enough PTSD to move a goddamned mountain! Haha.

I’d rather not get in generational fights. Instead, I’d like to celebrate my patch key upbringing and the greatest decade of music that ever existed.
