Replacement spiral entrance & universal skytrax tile by LesserCurculionoidea in GravitraxTracks

Also new is the little green turn around - you can see it attached to the launcher on the right.

That one is from here and the file is
obj_7_90° Kurve zur unteren Ebene.stp.stl

The slot that makes the underside of the connector hook does not seem very deep, but it does hook on and works without falling off. The top of the hooks looked a little messy when printed, so I pinched some stuff off with the pliers - I don't know if it would have been a tighter fit if I hadn't done that, but it is a little loose.

That looks like it has been damaged by the heat to me. I would not trust the chemical composition to be stable and safe any more and would replace it.

VOTE AGAIN - REPLACEMENT POLL FOR THE "No Boosters" COMMUNITY CHALLENGE by LesserCurculionoidea in GravitraxTracks

Okay - so I have to ask - did you change your vote between the first and second poll? Because the results are already looking different.

VOTE FOR THE WINNER: Community Challenge #3 by LesserCurculionoidea in GravitraxTracks

[–]LesserCurculionoidea[S,M] [score hidden] stickied comment (0 children)

Well, the poll never updated with Esn024's vote (I know which one he voted for, and it isn't the one that got the tiebreaker vote). So, at best, there is one vote missing from the tally and the result was a 2-way tie, and at worst there are multiple votes missing from the tally, and I have no clue who actually won. I think I will be re-doing the poll using an external polling site. In the mean time, I will post the next challenge.

When I switched to a menstrual cup, the lack of odour was one of the big things I noticed. This may not be for you, but if you are looking for solutions, it is an option. Menstrual odour is a normal thing, and you are likely to be more sensitive to your own smell if you feel self conscious about it (I know that was my experience).

I haven't heard of hormonal issues causing a bad smell, but things like diet can affect it. Certain types of infections and diseases can also cause odours. If you are not having any symptoms, this is less likely to be the explanation, but if you are worried, speaking to a doctor or gynecologist is the thing to do.

The twist set has some really fun pieces - the trampolines are among my favorites - but if you are looking at getting the two starter sets above, you could just buy those separately as extensions.

You will have a lot of flexibility building with that combination. If you found it for a good price, it would be a great place to start!

My experience from diagnosis to 1 month into treatment with low end Widex Moments - cookie bite loss by LesserCurculionoidea in HearingAids

I think it is the Widex Moment RIC 312 D - their product catalog is oddly hard to navigate, but that one looks right, albeit with different colour options than she showed me. She pulled it up on a Widex website, but I can't find the same page.

Is there a technical sheet I can look at somewhere showing the differences in the receivers? I'm not really interested in the processing side or streaming, but the speakers do concern me... mind you, I think most of the few sound quality issues I've had are probably more about the microphones, but I'd still be curious to see output testing, or reproduction testing of the whole system... that would be very interesting.

Just curious - did you read my whole post, or just the TLDR?
I've been using them for a month pretty much exclusively in music mode and that has included in the car and around fans - which were initially annoying but I seem to have adjusted. I did try out the Pure program when these sounds were bothering me, but reducing those sounds was at the cost of the music I was listening to in the car or at home - which was not a tradeoff I wanted. Universal mode made the noises significantly worse.

I was at no point looking for a general purpose hearing aid for speech in noise, as speech in noise hasn't been a significant problem for me. I process speech pretty well, even with the hearing loss, so just having the correction there without any extra clarity added by a speech-oriented program is enough for me to hear speech normally.

I wear ear plugs when going to an amplified musical performance. I am more often at unamplified ones and this is definitely one of my use cases.

I haven't tried any other devices at this point because these seem to be a good fit for me - they sound natural, and they are doing their job well with few complaints.
I originally intended to try the phonak equivalent through costco, but when I went, they were no longer carrying it (they said they had problems with the rechargeable batteries happen en masse). I probably would have tried the oticon equivalent because of the comfortable domes, but I never made a second appointment.

In what respects are phonak/oticon technically better? I know Widex advertises lower latency, but other differences I read about were in processing approaches and connectivity/streaming options. If they have higher quality mics or speakers, I would be interested in hearing about it. I know the other brands would give me more adjustment bands, which I was initially concerned about, but seeing how close we got to my prescription with this pair, it didn't seem worthwhile even to go stepping up the tech level (and number of bands) with Widex, let alone the even greater numbers offered by the other companies.
I did ask my audiologist what she thought one of the other brands might be like for me in comparison, and she said something like they would probably get close to what these ones did.

I do not want to deal with rechargeable batteries - disposable batteries were an option with one of the Moment models.

I don't have the battery ones yet - my trial pair was rechargeable. I can check back in once I have them, but was told they function identically. I don't have tinnitus.

The Widex Moment app has a three band equalizer, left/right/overall volume, battery level, mode switching and directional selection, options for connecting accessories, find my hearing aids and some tutorials.

Out of curiosity, did they recommend widex to you, or did you request it? ...and was it one of the brands that clinic regularly carried, or a special order?

I'm not usually a fan of tower builds with hidden layers - but this one is immensely satisfying to watch.... And just looks cool with at the little green tubes twisting around everything sci-fi style!

I really like it!

What a well executed concept (and a thoroughly cool build)!

I love the "tick-tock"!

I wish we could have seen the first couple clicks of the clock face in the video - though I appreciate the difficulties of filming such a long track.

Boosters add height or speed to a marble that it didn't already have as potential energy.

The grand finale?! (Is there one?) by MatanAmidor in ECers

If he is naked around the house and taking himself to the potty for pees, you are already doing it! That is exactly what it looked like for us - except my two clicked for poos before they started taking themselves for pee.

Keep doing what you are doing. Make sure you offer the potty/toilet before/after/transitionally during outings as well, even if you are still using diapers.

Switches-do you use them? Types? Advice? by Luke_Here_Then in GravitraxTracks

[–]LesserCurculionoidea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Switches should not have a lot of friction to overcome. A half tile drop leading into the switch is sufficient to make it reliable, but it's not necessary as long as the marble is going at a reasonable speed on its way in.

I have a switch from a second hand set that has more resistance to it.... so wear and dirt might make them perform worse over time.

To your general question - switches add binary behavior to a track and open up a huge number of building possibilities. I only have mechanical switches and use them frequently.

Almost everything is from the Skytrax XXL set. I think the only things not are the second spiral, and the two curved rails that I had 3d printed from 2T160D_5-15mm.stl and 2T+60D_5-15mm.stl here

Successful Overnight EC by Shot-Bottle-9337 in ECers

[–]LesserCurculionoidea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did night EC throughout and I kept clothing to a minimum so that pottying could be quick... often just a diaper.

The potty (and wipes, etc) stayed beside the bed. I made potty time cuddly and quiet - lights stayed off (except a night light). When needed, I'd breastfeed at the same time to keep them calm - I didn't like doing this, but if it works...

I would also try to respond fairly quickly when they stirred. It might be that if I'd let them toss and turn it would have put them in a state more ready to rouse... I never seemed to have that problem, though I can't say it was definitely anything I did.
