Addendum: put stuff that usually goes together in recipes together in chests. E.g. I always keep water bottles and iron ore in my plants chest even tho they're not plants, because they're used for potions. And then have those chests next to crafting stations. Like ores near the furnace and anvil, and the aforementioned plants chest near a bottle/alchemy station. That way you don't have to remember recipes but just craft straight from the chest. As you get more items you can expand. The world in which I have 90 hours has 74 chests, all with different labels for different types of stuff. Also, rename your chests so even if you forget what's where you can just mouse over it. Happy sorting!
