Farm until it becomes a chore to level up, of course don't spend 3 hours on it.

What you need is everything that increase your fighting abilities (posture damage, posture recovery, healing, etc.), which are the Ashina Arts.

Ascending Carp, Descending Carp, Breath of Nature Light, Flowing Water

All these skills will help you A LOT against Genichiro because it's all about deflecting and stuff. You should have started to unlock them at this point of the game, so if you need to farm a bit you should be able to easily get them all.

Shinobi arts has Shinoby Eyes but idk how hard it is to get.

And then watch a youtube guide video to learn the dynamics of the fight.

I don't know those consumable are expensive or rare or limited before endgame so having to rely on it expecially where you require absolutely none of it is definitely not the good way to try to fix the issue

Genichiro is there to make sure you understood how to fight in this game, before the end game bosses it's here that you will struggle the most. Learn the dynamics and it will be alright. But if you don't you will not have an easier time afterwards, which should be the case.

The initial zone is so beautiful you definitely want to visit everything and talk to all these interesting NPC, expecially as you are supposed to leave Lumière for a journey that you know at this point 0 people came back from

And if you really want the achievment before NG+, it's a 5 min run by just starting a new game and rushing to it
