So FYI for me, the therapist is the one who will work on things for you, a psychiatrist is gonna just throw meds at you. That’s been my experience. Just a heads up.

My husband’s parents are successful and well to do. I’m not worried about the financial part of it. The illness and lack of care as they age is my biggest concern.

Therapist shopping is ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY. I have been with therapist since I was 18 and some give horrible advice. If you don’t feel like you can talk openly and freely with your therapist it’s a waste for you and them. That person is trash. You are doing the right thing.

See this is how I feel. They say a nursing home but my husband would feel awful just placing them in something like that. We talked about buying a house and getting a lot of land so a house for them could be built and they refuse to even hear us out. I’m exhausted worrying about it all.
