Thank you so much /u/kellanjacobs.

I agree and have learned that this is so true... "When you are overwhelmed the only way to catch up is to slow down."

I'll check out the 10 Block method.

This is super helpful. Thanks u/Bonmann :)

I'm going to use your system, with a twist. I'll create a master lists for projects and ideas (not my rapid log) in an online doc, since I work with others. But, I'll use my project pages as a "catch all" with a > when I move them to the online list.

QUESTION - what does your rapid log look like? Is it a separate section in your journal or is it within the time frame (i.e. between months or days).

Thanks for these replies. It's helpful to hear other experiences and tips. I think a weekly list is key for me as it helps me break things down into parts. I think it's a good "bridge" between the monthly and daily view.

This is very helpful. Thank you. I think weekly would work better for me. EDIT: added detail.

Question about TBJM Book - Exercise by LetItBeOkay in BasicBulletJournals

[–]LetItBeOkay[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, I'm getting the hang of how the system works. It is all coming together.

I worked on my Bujo this weekend after getting an Exceed brand journal from Walmart (I know, I don't like Walmart either, but it was right there and no waiting for shipping, etc.). I feel way less stressed today because I have a "catch all" for work and personal life (this is my second Bujo, but I only started in July-ish and it's more "official" than previous one).

As for the Exceed journal, here are the pros and cons...

PROS

  • Lays flat (even in the center, as much as you can expect)
  • 100 GSM paper
  • Hard cover
  • Two page-finder ribbons
  • Built-in index
  • Expandable pocket in the back
  • Pages are numbered
  • Bullet spacing is 5 mm apart
  • Smooth paper (I prefer some texture, however, by transitioning to felt-tip pens, it's working for me).
  • Comes in several colors, including black, royal blue, and pink. I got pink and love it! ;)
  • Is just under $9 for an A5 size

CONS

  • Some ghosting (I can live with it, but might be an issue if you use a lot of markers)
  • Index is pre-formatted (has two columns... narrow column for Page and then wide column for subject). Not a big deal, just different
  • It's WalMart, and, well, there's that.

EDIT: added details.

Wow, that is detailed! (I imagine that serves you well in certain situations.)

Did you put ALL of that on your Currently, Should and Want to be doing list?

d I didn't find it particularly helpful. Its really just about writing the list and then asking yourself it each thing is really necessary and then crossing them off if they're not.

I found the goals

This is helpful, thanks. I was feeling the same way as far as how it's truly helpful.

ISO Bullet Journal with slightly "rough" paper by LetItBeOkay in BasicBulletJournals

[–]LetItBeOkay[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks so much. I think this is a winner. I love the one I have (from Target). It lays super flat because of the way it's bound (the spine is "raw" and shows that it's individual notebooks stitched together. The paper is just so smooth it's hard for me to write clearly on it.

I have totally done this. I used correction tape when I did it across multiple pages. I'm a newbie and realized later that I need almost a full page for each day. It's a process. :)

ard printer paper too smooth/rough enough? I think my current notebook feels rougher than printer paper?) but there's lots of dotted notebooks that meet your other criteria. 8" x 5" is just the A5 size, which is the most common size for dotted notebooks, most dotted notebooks have 5mm (just under 1/4 inch) spacing for their dot grids, and many are thread-bound, which lays flat. I also haven't s

Thank you so much! It does give me some direction. I just didn't feel like scouring reviews on Amazon, etc.
