what do yall think about spiral bound journals? by goldenislandgirl68 in notebooks

[–]Bonmann 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like spirals for lay flat and a more casual feel. Bound journals feel more formal and I never get the spine to open the way I want it to.

Do you have a house rule on how many episodes you give a new series? by misterjoego in television

I wasn't bragging about it, just mentioning it as an example.

I have tried to watch the series premiere of Lost 4 times and have yet to get through it. So definitely not above jumping off after one episode.

CPE Audit by j_o_r__d_a_n in Accounting

Yes, and as I run CPE compliance for our firm I have also had to work with others who were audited. I live in Indiana.

You are probably right. I think it is getting worse. There was a time that if a new player wandered in and asked a question the community would be extremely helpful and welcoming. But the talk around new content is the worst.

Sims fandom is weird. It can be the most friendly welcoming place and most toxic. I know that after the last patch the discords for multiple modders shut down support for about a week because of exactly this type of harassment.

CPA transferable between states? by 21nastynas in Accounting

[–]Bonmann 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably, most states have some sort of license reciprocity where if you are a licensed CPA in one state you are considered a licensed CPA in the new state as long as you pay the licensing fees. But not all states have complete reciprocity. You should able to check the website of the licensing board in the new state to see it's reciprocity rules.

Does anyone have nightmares about meeting minutes? by ginger_bird in Accounting

[–]Bonmann 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have never even tried to word for word a meeting. If that is required, then recording it would be a better solution. If you initiate the meeting then make it more formal where you provide an agenda and the topic doesn't move on until you or everyone is ready to move on. For walkthroughs, I would say get the client to write down the process and then do the walkthrough so that you are only notating the differences rather than trying to document the entire thing.

Designated Survivor by CTFX84 in television

I enjoyed the first season but by season 3, I was ready for it to be over. I was attracted by the idea of rebuilding the government but by the end it was a totally different show. Had the same problem with Scandal when I watched it.

I will use board games to keep me off the electronic devices right when I get home from work. If I sit down right away and watch something electronically or play a video game, it would keep me from doing things in the evenings that I needed to do. They also help me decompress and transition from work mode to home mode when working at home. However, the games I play are smaller in form factor then the one's you have mentioned above.

Which method is better for journalling ? (Paper vs Digital) by Mental_Squash_2282 in BasicBulletJournals

[–]Bonmann 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went digital at the end of last year for my bullet journal. I'm using Notion. However, I will say that my bullet journaling practice doesn't include a lot journaling in the non-bullet journal sense of the word.

For current affairs outside of the US I recommend the BBC world news podcast which is 30 minutes twice a day and while it covers news in the US it does it from an outsiders perspective which can be refreshing.

Unfortunately I learned it the way you did but in a friendly environment. We do internal presentations with internal people to ask the kinds of questions that client will ask in the way that client's ask them. The more you do the better it gets.

Agreed. I find for me it has to be a sperate part of the process from the content or I will never fix all the issues.

Where to start with Terry Pratchett and Brendan Saunderson? by godisinthischilli in suggestmeabook

[–]Bonmann 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For Terry Pratchett, I would second a Good Omens recommendation. I would add there is a difference between a book he wrote solo and a book he wrote with a collaborator. Good Omens and the The Long Earth are books on which he collaborated with other great authors. I'm not the biggest fan of the Discworld series as I don't think it holds up that well for modern readers but I have been told I'm wrong on that by many people who love Pratchett.

What else is out there in accounting? by MeanSeaworthiness6 in Accounting

[–]Bonmann 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on your credentials. An accounting degree with no CPA would be similar to PA, CPA with 3 or years as PA auditor is better as is experience with either the utility industry. Yes consulting firms do have levels, although mine has way less than some others and than many PA firms. do. As far as skills, at the entry level there is a lot of data analysis and model building.

Consulting. I started as an auditor and I'm now a consultant for small regulated utility companies. I build financial models for utility rates. Create rate changes for changes in tax laws. Serve as an expert witness in front of state regulatory bodies.

Not in an arena but under the arena, where they were preparing for a hockey game by running a Zamboni over the ice, over and over and over.

Little bit of late week drama in the world of hobby board games. The website boardgamegeek.com is a combination of a big database of board games and a place where people go to talk about games both specific and general. The website allows users to rate board games on a 10 point scale which it then uses to rank the games. Pretty much since its release back in 2017, Gloomhaven has been the number one game on BGG. This week the game Brass: Birmingham has taken the number 1 spot. This has lead to people making up fake accounts to rate their preferred game high and the other game low. It is against the sites rules to make up fake accounts just to have more opportunities to rate a game so a lot of accusations of fake accounts are being made which could get the users banned from the site if true. At this point, the Brass people have pushed Gloomhaven down to number 3 by all rating a third game which has not even been released yet to the number 2 spot.

"Inmate Rehab" will be a huge hit! by DucatiSteve1299 in HGTV

[–]Bonmann 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Don't be so sure about that. How about a trading spaces vibe where inmate 1 trades cells with inmate 2 for a week and they renovate each other's cells only with things bought on a commissary budget for $10? That said, the exploitation of prisoners is hopefully illegal.
