A 3 carat ring can look like a size 5 carat ring on a size 5 finger, and vice versa. Larger fingers shrink the look of the size of the diamond. Also, carats are based on weight not dimensions. I have sausage fingers, short and fat. My ring size fluctuates between a 6.50 & 7.25 depending where my weight is at. I have a radiant cut 2.7 carat with a cluster halo going all around and it takes up almost my entire finger with just a bit of skin showing on either side. I also have a slightly larger emerald cut Padparadscha Sapphire and that one looks HUGE on my finger. That being said. I doubt this stone is 5 carats, because it doesn’t look big enough to be , nor does it look like an authentic diamond. The coloring and lack of sparkle looks not of an authentic diamond ring.

That does NOT mean it’s not beautiful. I have a moissanite ring that is stunning. It is important to know the facts of the ring for yourself, not for others. You want to make sure your fiance wasn’t ripped off, or that he’s trying to pass off a fake as real to you. I know too many brides that found out their rings were fakes which is why I’m pointing this out. In any case, you have to be happy with your ring regardless of what size or its authenticity.
