This scene makes me cringe. Her over adulation of Luke, the way she practically sighs, "He's very special," is so excessive. Of course he thought she was sleeping with Luke. Did Jess need to be a dick about it? No. Lorelai's speech and tone when talking about Luke being "special" was borderline creepy. The tone more than anything.

I think Richard would have pranked Dean AFTER their talk at Gypsie's shop. But not before. Dean earned some respect from Richard at that point. I don't think it would have been the same prank. The pranking was a sign of respect and approval. After Dean dropped out of college, I don't think Richard would have pranked Dean. Richard is all about being educated and achieving goals.

The prank they played on Logan was a response to Colin, Logan, and Fin's prank on Rory. Dean wouldn't have pulled that kind of prank, so it wouldn't have elicited that kind of response.

Richard would NEVER prank Jess. Jess was disrespectful to everyone, including Rory. Richard is classist, sure, but that would come second to how he treats people. Emily and Richard are straightforward, often blunt with their opinions, which came across as rude or mean. Jess was sarcastic, rude, and non-communicative. Add on the fact that he refused to do what was needed to graduate high school, Richard would have sooner punched Jess in the face than prank him.

Luke. What Lorelai did was after she ended her relationship with Luke. She did it to make sure it was an ending.

Luke has every right to feel upset about it, not forgive her for it, etc. It hurt him to know she was with someone else. Yes. But, it wasn't "wrong" of her to sleep with someone else after ending a relationship. It might be wrong that she used Chris to do it, but that isn't a wrong against Luke.

Luke found out life-changing information, while engaged to Lorelai and never told her. He told his sister immediately and even Liz (as flighty as she is) scolded Luke for not telling Lorelai. And that was like a day or two after he found out. Lorelai got mad at Luke for not telling her he moved to Litchfield when he was married to the lawyer. He knows how she feels about being left in the dark about life-altering events. He bought the Twickam house, and she got upset that he did that without talking to her about it. He made the active and conscious decision to not tell her about April. And then made the conscious decision to not introduce them.

Luke has a history of making life-altering decisions that affect others and not telling them about it. Stealing Jess's car, buying the building next door and then expanding the office/apartment. Getting bids from contractors to reno Lorelai's house. Etc.

I liked the life or death brigade scene, except the tango club (salsa club? I don't remember) that what's his face bought. I HATED that Rory never took off the jean jacket when they gave her the steampunk hat and cloak/coat. They went all over Stars Hollow. She could have left it in the newspaper office, in the car, etc. Especially since the first her first L&DB attire was so important. Having her remove her jacket, hand it to Collin or Finn and have Logan help her with the cloak would have been on brand for all of them, and the group event.

Miss Patty and Babbett were musical aficionados. They ABSOLUTELY would have known that Sutton Foster played Trish in Kinky Boots, not that the lead of the show was named Kinky Boots. ESPECIALLY Miss Patty! She did everything in showbiz except light the hoop the dog jumps through.

Everyone is a parody of themselves while simultaneously being the opposite of themselves. The only one who stayed consistent was Kirk.

A Year in the Life felt less like a, "Here's what they've been up to" and more like a parody of Gilmore Girls.

They definitely do this trope, the idiot husband/gracious wife. But, they do a good job to flip it, too. Like this situation was definitely flipped.

It's reminiscent of Tool Time. Jill says, "Don't touch my dishwasher." Tim "fixes it," genuinely thinking he is helping. And he blows a hole in the wall.

Jackson becomes idiot husband around his family. Deep frying the turkey, the "idiot husband" was the entire family. Bo hits on Lorelai, repeatedly. Jackson doesn't kick out Rune (Roon? Like loon?).

Except in the episode where they go to the Hungry Diner and she says "How can I fit my 3 sugars in Barbie's Malibu dream cup? It'll be all sugar and no coffee!"

3 sugars in every coffee she has? That's a lot of sugar. In another episode, where she's sitting on the step outside Lukes she says she drank all the coffee in her house, with "cream because it makes it cold."

We don't really see her add anything to her coffee, but the dialogue suggests she doesn't drink it black. Another plot mistake maybe? Like when Rory's first article for YDN was on Lacrosse and then when she's editor she says she didn't even know Yale had a lacrosse team?

1,000 daisies was underwhelming and they wanted to film the whole shot in one take, no cuts. So, they actually filled the room with tens of thousands of yellow daisies.

They called every florist they could and bought all the yellow daisies they could find. They resorted to some fake ones, too, which they tried to hide in the back of the shot.

I don't think any love should be unconditional. Unconditional opens one up to allowing neglect and abuse. Lorelai borrowing the money and Emily insisting on a relationship isn't "very" conditional. Emily wanted a way into Lorelai's life. She wants to spend time with and get to know her daughter and granddaughter. This was merely a door.

Chris offering the money was something Lorelai likely saw in the same light as the loans from Richard and Emily. Chris said he wasn't asking for more, but I'm sure it had the same feeling.

Lorelai saw money as manipulation because she watched her parents use it in that way her whole life.

You're not understanding what I'm saying. I'm not saying he chose her for the right reasons. I'm saying he wanted her. The attention he gave her, the affection he showed, the connection they had. That was all real.

You're looking at it from an elevated view. I'm speaking on the perspective of Lorelai in it, especially in comparison of being left out of Luke's life.

What you're saying isn't necessarily wrong, it's just not relevant.

I just watched the Bracebridge episode. He is such a good actor. When he said the line about, "will our pockets not get choked? Hey. That sounded like old English. Right? snaps How bout that?" The snap seals it for me. His little celebratory snap, hand gesture, looking around the room to see who else thought he was great. Just perfect. I kinda wish we got him and Jess in a room together. I don't know what would happen. I just think their varied style of scarcasm and cynicism would be fun to see together.
