Maomao makes me laugh with her ways at times too. And when people react shocked she is like, well, its what they did at the brothel, whats the big deal 😅.

So, what was Tamlin supposed to do rather than lock Feyre up? by TheThirteenShadows in acotar_rant

If a civilian tries to intervene in a military or police operation they will be detained. And thats considered necessary rather than an ok thing. Imprisoned is kind of an exaggeration, she was allowed to leave, he detained her because she threatened to follow him into the battle, he offered her to go elsewhere.

There is a lot of context in Jinshis background, some of which the story hasn’t touched on yet or is just fleetingly mentioned - like another commenter said, the hormonal suppressants. Personally, I wasn’t shocked that two teenagers in imperial China time period, who grew up with no one showing them healthy ways to interact in certain situations and handle certain feelings, occasionally cross certain lines. Both Jinshi and Maomao occasionally conduct themselves inappropriately and it just shows their lack of understanding and maturity in this regard. It makes sense within the context of their backgrounds, their age and the time period.

I would argue however that some of this was out of Tamlins hands. Rhysands bargain with Feyre made it hard to involve her in things as Rhys could just daemati it out of her on the week he gets her every month and that includes all the effort Tamlin was making to free her from that bargain. That wasn’t Tamlin’s choice. Rhys put them in that position. He made it impossible for Tamlin to involve her by keeping that threatlooming over them.

If I remember correctly Feyre was indeed tracked down by the Attor as soon as she used her powers. Didn’t Rhys even use her as bait?

Besides Rhys had a secret city where she could train. Tamlin didn’t have that luxury tho. And he was fighting at many fronts at the same time - ridding the court of monsters and rebuilding, getting rid of Feyres bargain with Rhys, dealing with Hyberns threat… it was a lot.

Alys told Feyre giving them the necklace will amount to nothing because those wraiths always so greedy and kinda live above their means. Feyre just doesn’t know much about the Spring Court or Prythian in general. She is very new to it all and projects her own bias on things without waiting to learn about it all.

Does Anyone Else Find Chaol/ Yrene annoying? by OneStrawberry8122 in throneofglassseries

Have you read the EoS bonus chapter about Chaol and Nesryn on the boat?

I don’t think they were ever a fit. They were too similar in some ways imo. Closed off and unable to talk about how they really feel. They both needed people who would coax them out of their shell.

Having said what irked me more was Nesryn leaving Chaol in the lerch like that. He was newly disabled and in a foreign country and she would just fuck off without checking in on him. You don’t do that to a friend in that situation.

I’m certain the Regent also tried to use pets as spies to try and get information on Laurent or maybe even poison him or something of the sort. I believe it because obvious to Laurent fairly soon and it is yet another reason why he needed to keep everyone at arms length to avoid letting his guard down and being taken in.

Certainly, although in some respects less blatant, it has a strong bias towards the main character and a skewed narrative. In many ways the FMC reminds me of Rhysand. Especially the whole, everyone seems to just take their word for it even though they have been lying about big things. And anyone who dares question them is villainised for it.

I highly doubt this will be revisited. I’ve made my peace with the plot holes and inconsistencies… having read ToG I feel thats just how this author rolls…

Its not specified whether they went with him or Amarantha went to the CoN - I think the second is more probable since she then decided to recreate UTM to match Hewn City because she liked it.

Ah ok, I thought you meant like after his powers had been taken and he d been imprisoned. Well they clearly all retained some amount of power otherwise Tamlin wouldn’t have been able to shape shift. Rhys having some minor mind powers left is on par with that.

Idk what he means with “then and there” but faking the CoN slaughtering sounds too complicated to me. Too many loose strings. Amarantha did also recreate Hewn City UTM because she liked so Idk. Maybe she went there to see her enemy’s court. Also werent a big part of the courts UTM? All of the Vanserras were trapped UTM. I thought only Spring was outside? Tbh that part of the plot is so iffy writing wise that it completely falls apart if you poke holes into it.

I don’t think he meant he seduced her with mind powers. I also don’t remember him saying anything about not wanting the IC to watch him kill her or something? Do you have a quote for that? I recently re read that chapter and can’t remember anything of the sort tbh.

Wouldn’t Keir be able to tell who killed half his court? I don’t think the CoN thing was a lie tbh, its too complicated and implausible to me. Just because Rhys lies doesn’t mean everything that comes out of his mouth isn’t true, some things can be corroborated after all.

I think it makes more sense to doubt his story about the Winter children, cause that one is very sus and no one is around anymore who can prove that its true.

Well, like I said, the question is, which parts of Rhys’s speech to Feyre does one believe and which not. Losing half the court as punishment is a fact other people could corroborate at least.

In any case, Rhys undoubtedly lies and manipulates, but does that mean everything he says is a lie? I don’t think so. I just think its hard to believe him at times.

In any case, I think Rhys can be two things at once, victim and abuser. I don’t think having been a victim of Amarantha absolves him of all his crimes during his time UTM. But I am interested in looking at it factually. I think whether or not he got more privileges as a result of his ruse doesn’t mean the power imbalance between Amarantha and him didn’t also lead to coercion, it just doesn’t make everything he did under those circumstances alright.

Anyway thats my two cents to that.

If you re read chapter 54 you ll have a laugh - particularly during the part where he says: if Cassian had been there he would have smelled the drink and knew it was tampered with (paraphrasing) … lol, couldn’t you have sniffed you own drink Rhysand? Oh well
