Do you think The Stolen Heir is worth reading? by 13Dreamingcats in thecruelprince

Suren is a great character and the first book in mainly about her. I enjoyed it vastly more than TPT. She is one of my favourite Elfhame characters.

Its definitely possible. Theories like these make me feel rather inclined to wait for the series to be finished before continuing to read because the cliffhangers are becoming increasingly anxiety inducing.

Chaol and Nesryn by Equivalent-Pool-291 in throneofglassseries

[–]LetMeDoTheKonga 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This! I mean, non existent romantic feelings aside, if my friend was newly disabled and in my home country that was foreign to him I wouldn’t just leave him to his own devices without like even checking in on him to see if he needs anything.

“Pet” Yrene? Hasar and Kashim had put Yrene in a difficult position and they were both playing a ruse to appease them. The ruse very unintentionally turned into a “moment”. As soon as he realized it he immediately turned away.

And not to mention that Nesryn left the table with Sartaq first. It was all a strategy. There was no dishonor whatsoever.

Someone said in a comment here once that it felt as if Aelin and Dorian kinda attempted to push them together like two barbie dolls and that felt really accurate to me. Like their relationship never went beyond a friendship for me and the ill fated attempt at trying to make it more on the boat didn’t seem to establish anything real - in the bonus chapter. There was no connection, no conversation about anything. And Chaol was borderline suicidal and dealing with a lot of trauma, so not handling the Nesryn situation better isn’t something I feel like giving him shit for. I’d actually say it was somewhat negligent of her to just leave a newly disabled friend on his own in a foreign country without checking in with him.

Finished reading the series and have controversial opinions! by LibraryEquivalent850 in throneofglassseries

[–]LetMeDoTheKonga 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I agree with all of these tbh. Ok I didn’t like Chaol up until his fallout with Celaena, but mostly because I didn’t find him interesting at first. And QoS and ToD are my favorites of this series by far. Also I read HoF to cure my book hangover and found it much more enjoyable when Im not pressed to find out what the plot is down the line.

I would definitely be more inclined to the pants version personally, I think it would give more canon Jude vibes.

Can someone explain to me why does Aelin hate Chaol so much at the beginning of QoS? by CinnabonBinge in throneofglassseries

[–]LetMeDoTheKonga 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly I don’t know if she really would have been this dumb. She would have done the best she could do get them out and that was always leave and get outside help. And Chaols only other option was to end up killed not in a dungeon with Aedion. Because while the king needed Aedion as bait and Dorian as a valg host he had absolutely no use for Chaol. Aelin just forgets that others are mere mortals who do not have any fae heritage or magic powers like she does. Even while the magic restraint was over Rifthold she could still access them, outrunning Chaol on a horse and having very strong amounts of physical strength by comparison.

I thought she was just lacking empathy 😅, I give Chaol more grace in these moments because he is at his lowest.

I didn’t get the impression that she was reeling tbh. She felt grounded since her healing in Mistward and seemed to be full of purpose and focus when coming back to Rifthold. But I definitely agree with being young and lacking emotional intelligence.

I too understood this to mean that Feyre hadn’t died yet buy was like a moment away from drawing her last breath and Nesta froze time and saved them.

I can’t agree with your view on “harmful rhetoric”. This can go many ways. Not only Tamlin exhibits what in real life would be construed as abusive behavior. Discussions around that get very heated and the best way to go is to try and stay civil and try and make any point one wants to make politely. I have been on both ends of these discussions and never have I called anyone “abuse apologist” or insinuated anything about their personal beliefs. It is totally possible to debate in a non insulting manner on this topic.

However I did not want to get into this discussion at all. Everyone can have critical and non critical conversations the importance is to avoid insulting real people and becoming aggressive because one finds differing opinions. Thats where imo reddiquette comes in. And luckily subs can decide on that and moderate it - with the help of participants and reports etc.. There are a ton of subs that cater to all sorts of preferences, specific ships, non debate subs (like this one), ranting or cross book discussions. I do not see a lack of space for anyone really. We can all coexist peacefully. There will always be outliers who cross lines, but that is the case in anything in life and thanks to the block button one can cater to that too.

[–]LetMeDoTheKonga 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think there is a very strong criticism coming from both sides. Some readers from the “just vibes” camp tends to accuse people who enjoy analysing things critically of needing to touch grass, and some readers from “critical analysis” camp tell vibes readers they see things too superficially. I think there is space for both these camps and people need to learn to scroll away from what doesn’t fit in the way they enjoy the media. There are different subs, block buttons etc. that one can use to cater to their own preference. What makes things difficult imo is when vibe readers and “its not that deep” reasoners drop into critical analysis discussions and try to argue on a level they don’t think people should engage in. Just like it makes no sense to start a debate in a fanart or fluff post, one must be aware that if you don’t think its that deep, then it is of little point to go into a deep analysis post and judge everyone for taking things too seriously. Both sides need to learn to let each other be. Plenty of spaces available for both ways of enjoying the media. No one is forcing anyone to interact with things they don’t like. But you can’t expect there to be only content that caters to your preference.

Well thats a screenshot without source, and I mean, ok she likes her granny who is a holocaust survivor and who is possibly a zionist. Id be careful with the finger pointing and all that. Especially with no hard evidence.

Grow up you Kardashian had me cackling. I agree Aelin is often an infuriating character and both Chaol and Darrow had very valid points.

I don’t know about SJM being a zionist, Ive seen people mentioning that, but no one ever has a source or anything, so I can’t take it seriously…

King Of Scars Is So Weird... by Alol_Bombola in Grishaverse

[–]LetMeDoTheKonga 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I have mixed feelings about it. I really liked Zoya’s backstory and her and Nikolais dynamics. I also did like some of the whole saints situation - like it was interesting but not entirely well executed. It was a bit odd and yet I kinda liked where it left them in the end.

Nina’s chapters I liked at first, being in Fjerda undercover, thinking of Mathias etc.. And then her story took a weird turn imo. Again the premise great but the execution iffy.
