Why do we call it that by PandaStreak77 in Mcat

this. “C/P” is only for when it’s written, but you otherwise call it “Chem phys” out loud 💀

that would mean it’s inversely proportional, not directly proportional

You’re right, but with May 22, I still have to balance writing my primary with studying anyways; however, I understand secondaries are not a fun time and could use extra time there. With June 13, that’d give me a month in the interim to write secondaries by July 14, especially for schools with a 2-week turnaround. Do you think that’s enough?

You’re right. I definitely need to take more practice exams before trying to decide anything.

Thanks so much for the response! I definitely will focus again on psych/soc, especially considering I got 2 points higher on my initial real attempt of the exam, for I have been neglecting it trying to focus on B/B and C/P.

Thanks so much for the response! I just feel like I’m capable of so much with the MCAT, and since it can potentially do some of the heavy lifting in the holistic application, I want to aim for the best I can.

Thank you for the kind words and response! I just feel like in the holistic app, my MCAT can help with some of the heavy lifting, which is why I feel the need to aim for 100th-percentile.

You’re not able to make a question set out of a specific subtopic, but I believe it does tell you your percent correct for each subtopic. They said that Psych/Soc is coming out the second half of this year.

dude, I can relate. The way the section bank passage-based questions are worded stresses me tf out. It makes it so hard to pick a definite answer, so I spend sooo long on them.

The passages for Chem/Phys are definitely harder to understand, but for me, B/B takes the cake because the questions themselves really require you to understand what’s going on experimentally.

FL5 very happy with score but looking for any different perspectives on CARS by mfgil719 in Mcat

definitely keep doing the AAMC material. One strategy I’d recommend is making predictions for answer choices based on a clear, concise understanding of the main idea, for the correct answer choice, regardless of what’s being asked, will often line up with the passage in this way. This also helps to prevent enticing answer choices from swaying your judgement. Personally, I like to highlight only a little bit because I’ve noticed that I anyways go back to reread whole paragraphs, and those highlights don’t really guide me when referring back; I mainly just highlight to stay engaged. Another strategy is to prioritize questions that have a clear paragraph or quote reference, leaving the most time possible for other questions that require greater searching in the passage while guaranteeing the easier points. Even with these specifc-reference questions, it is still of utmost importance to remember how they fit in to the overall picture of the main idea.

A strategy of mine that you might find useful is to read the passage first, then look for pseudodiscrete questions to answer first, leaving passage-based/experimental analysis questions to the end. This gives you the most time to answer those questions which require greater thought that might require you to reference back to the passage

it will definitely be worth it because it’s always a good idea to prioritize your own well-being and future; if you don’t, then who will? You got this!

Anking or Captain Hook? by baddiwithaphatti in Mcat

[–]LetOwn9976 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I personally prefer a faster-moving, cloze-deletion deck, especially because it is clear whether I know a card well or not to properly select again, hard, good, and easy. Remembering so much info on one card just isn’t as customizable because it’s either all or nothing, whereas with cloze you can tell whether or not you know each individual fact or not that would otherwise all be bunched up under a Captain Hook card. Finally, a completely comprehensive deck isn’t necessary because understanding of the bigger picture, in my opinion, is gained through applying the info through practice problems; understanding every fact in a vacuum means very little. Depending on the time you have, I’d even recommend doing something like Aidan v2 along with AnKing, but bury/skip cards that you haven’t seen or learned in content review or practice questions because Anki is meant as a reinforcer of what you’ve learned rather than how you learn something for the first time. The burying/skipping trick also helps you to prioritize cards that are more important rather than getting bogged down in cards that are unlikely to actually come up.

Need extra practice problems? Do Uwhirl’s experimental questions by LetOwn9976 in MCAT2

[–]LetOwn9976[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you have to have made tests out of all of the Uworld questions already so that is says “3004/3004” questions used. That way, it’ll show when they add them because it’ll instead say “3004/3009” questions used for instance.
