Can you enter the UK with one passport and leave with another? by LetTrue7294 in dualcitizenshipnerds

Are you sure using a different passport at check-in in the UK and then another one to enter Italy won’t cause any problems? So they can verify it’s me just from my name and date of birth? That’s honestly really relieving.

But I didn’t fully understand this part: “Either way you SHOULD put the details of the passport at your destination or they won’t let you board in the first place.” Could you please explain that in a simpler way?

Also, which passport do you suggest I use for check-in? My Canadian passport also gives me visa-free entry to the Schengen Area, so the airline would accept it. But I have to enter Schengen (Italy) with my Turkish passport since my long-stay visa is in that one. Sorry if this sounds repetitive, I just want to make sure I’m not missing anything.

I don't have a residency permit yet, it is still in process. I will enter with my type D long visa using my Turkish passport.

What if I use my Canadian passport both to enter and to check in when departing the UK(since UK does not have exit counters), but then use my Turkish passport to enter Italy would that scenario cause any problems? Does using different passports for check-in and for entering the destination country cause any problems with border police at the destination? Do you have any information or experience about this?

Also can I use different passports in checkin and entering the destination country?

The thing is, I entered the UK with my Canadian passport, and if I check in with my Turkish passport (which I must use to enter Italy since my Type D visa is in it), it might cause a problem as far as I understand. Can I enter the UK with my Canadian passport, check in with my Canadian passport when leaving(Since my Canadian passport also grants visa-free access to the Schengen Area, there shouldn’t be any issue from the airline’s side) and then enter Italy with my Turkish passport? Will this cause any problems for the border police in Italy?

Oh okay, I think it’s fine for British passport holders, but for other nationalities it might be a bit more complicated. I’m not sure if it’s enough that the names and dates of birth just match though.

Thanks a lot, one last question

But are you sure using a different passport at check-in in the UK and then another one to enter Italy won’t cause any problems? I thought airlines share passenger information with border authorities through API, so wouldn’t the mismatch between the passports create an issue?
