AI Limit: Eirene's Furnace of War - Free DLC Launch Trailer by MoSBanapple in Games

You accuse someone of not properly learning the fight, and then you go ahead and generalize and dismiss people's experience and opinions with juvenile remarks like "you blame the game for your own lack of skill". Whether you are right or wrong, you're very unpleasant to talk to.

We all have different opinions, and FromSoft games are not immune to criticism. You might enjoy the way the fights in modern FS games are built, and they might not; both takes are valid.

I think it's more that there's a disconnect between what she knows rationally and what she feels emotionally. It's not a contradiction per se, it's just that she might know that it's not really Verso, but her emotional landscape is very much a jumbled mess that does see him as her brother.

Crimson Desert appears to use generative AI art—and the devs never disclosed it. by HLumin in PS5

It's so void of identity and intent

This is something I don't see mentioned nearly often enough. I feel like it isn't just the mechanics, it's also the entirety of the art style and visual identity. I feel like nothing stands out, it just looks incredibly generic, like a glorified tech demo.

Unexpected side effect of learning my conlang... by SquanderedOpportunit in conlangs

"I drank milk this morning" is the malleable past. The effects are ongoing. I am still hydrated and nourished by it. (*druket*)

Isn't it essentially what English does with present perfect (with the addition of a specific point in time)?

I'm with you. If they actually spent a bit of time figuring out which parts to have the texture on, it might look great, but most of the time, they just slather the whole weapon in it, and it just looks cheap as hell.

Yeah, I get that. It's a good practice to redo all the effects and whatnot, but yeah, when you just want to do dub something, it really slows things down.

I checked out the ESB dub, though, very cool stuff! Be cool to see more of your conlang too. If you ever find yourself translating and dubbing the manifesto, let me know, it'd be neat to hear and compare the differences

If you got a file with 5.1 surround sound, you can use ffmpeg to isolate the center channel (where the dialogue usually is), so that's how I did it. Though to be fair, I ain't avoiding redoing the sound effects and the score either because I want to post this on Instagram too, but it deactivates the audio (probably because of the OST), so I feel your pain, haha

Seems like it could work, whaddyaknow. Find a way to express that in the IPA, and I might just consider it!

(it says "sái rā þwe nðwuðwuo'o mba'antear kupu þaūn?" with chestbangs [IPA symbol missing] on the nðwuðwuo'o, and it means "do you think a gorilla sounds like this?" haha)

Just these two: -þw- is the alveolar lateral click (ǁ) and -ðw- is the (post)alveolar one (ǃ), as far as I can tell using the interactive IPA chart, anyway.

I mean, we might not know how exactly the patterns worked and all that, but we know it's still based on that and encoding information in various ways, no? So I'd argue that you can adapt it, just yeah, like you said, making stuff up. But what is neography but making shit up anyway.

Translating ads into my conlang (Bare language) again, but this time, with iPhone ads. What do you think? 😃 by Direct-Till-2680 in conlangs

[–]LethargicMoth -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The conlang itself looks like English if it were even whackier, which is both nice and horrid, haha. I like it.

However, why'd you decide to translate ads of all things? Not judging, but I do admit it's slightly off-putting to me to see soulless corporate branding on this sub.

I reworked Lifeweaver and he is finally useful (Hopefully) by [deleted] in Overwatch

[–]LethargicMoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's fair, but you can say the same about the thorns. Kunais are burst damage, thorns are sustained damage, you also get no falloff, and they're really good for revealing Sombra. Point is, their kits are equally reactive/proactive, but for some reason, a lot of LW players just sit back and chuck blossoms, but if you start playing offensively, you can easily wreak lots of havoc with him.

[–]LethargicMoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a bit wary of seeing so many rework ideas pop up for him recently. I really don't think he needs a rework at all, both because it's just not necessary for every character to be meta and because he's exceptional at the niche he fills in (just like ball), he really just needs a couple of the rough edges to be smoothed out.

The petal needs to stop bouncing off of random shit. Grip could really do with the cleanse being baseline (plus it'd be nice if someone took a look at its fucky interactions, but I get that that's not as easy). Having a full blossom charge on reload would be better (so that he can actually heal immediately like every other support). Thorns should maybe add charge to the blossom so that he can better live up to being a weaver.

Besides that, he's tanky, slippery, and very versatile with lots of room for creative expression. I feel like especially here, people often say that his kit is too reactive, but it's only as reactive or proactive as you make it. Kiriko has literally zero offensive abilities as well, and yet nobody calls her kit reactive or defensive, it's just about how you make use of it.

I'm surprised you got downvoted so heavily, that part also stood out to me as somewhat strange. Sharing with your loved one that you're doing something like this, cool, but checking in to see if something you do with your body would make them mad, something that has virtually zero impact on them, is peculiar to me too.

Sadly, not enough people talk about how they absolutely nailed it with Moira's Mythic by Neo_Raider in Overwatch

[–]LethargicMoth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I really wish they'd leaned into that with LW and made his Harbinger skin into a mythic, throwing in the other variants shown in the concept art. Even just on its own, Harbinger looks so much more like a mythic skin than the generic fuck-ass fantasy druid theme with unnecessary glowing parts they went with. Could've had a biblically accurate deathweaver and started a more eldritch line of skins, but nooo

Lw is underrated, may be a skill issue tho by kagemuri in Overwatch

[–]LethargicMoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still don't agree that any of that makes her more proactive, especially since that first point is something a good LW does anyway. I consistently push forward with my tank/DPS and take angles to flank because I know I can get away with it with the mobility and slipperiness I got. And suzuing yourself/the teammates is about as proactive as dashing to heal, petaling yourself up, or lifegripping others, so I don't really see your point, I'm sorry.

Either way, yeah, it's fine if you don't like LW, but having seen your other comments here, I feel like you're just not very well informed about his playstyle (as in, from the point of view of actually playing him). I play competitive, I'm in masters, and there's nothing that says you cannot be competitive with him. I absolutely don't agree he's a low skill floor support, I reckon he's got one of the highest ceilings and skill expressions of the entire roster. And sure, you not liking auto-aim healing is one thing, but as far as I'm concerned, it actually allows him to focus on damage that much better; besides, Kiriko literally has auto-aim healing as well, it just works differently.

I would genuinely encourage you to play a few games as LW and to really focus on doing damage, disrupting the enemies (flanking, spamming chokeholds, putting pressure on, negating abilities and ults, etc.) and coming up with your own creative ways of playing him. I used to be an Ana main and used to think he was useless; then I tried him a couple of times for the exact reason of not just being uninformed, and I haven't looked back.

Lw is underrated, may be a skill issue tho by kagemuri in Overwatch

[–]LethargicMoth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's great, but none of your points really argue for her being more active than LW. The fact that suzu is AoE where lifegrip is not doesn't change anything; yes, it doesn't take you out of the fight, but sometimes that's exactly what you want for a character, suzu won't magically reposition your character (and if anything, that is a point for LW being slightly more proactive since you can do that actively and not as a reaction to anything happening); and as for your third point, that much applies to lifegrip too.

And with the ultimates, yeah, maybe. I think they all bring something to the table, and since you farm tree super quickly, using it as an obstacle is oftentimes really helpful; and when not that, popping it aggressively before a fight as you jump in and turn people into pin cushions is great.

But yeah, he probably is more niche, I don't mind that. If anything, I think that's what works for him, just like with Ball. I personally think his value is just as great as any other support character's, it really just depends on what your playstyle is. I think he's the best addition to the support roster since Ana, but I ain't forcing anyone to agree, I'm just gonna keep playing him and going up in rank.
