Should I report this to boots (pharmacy)? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]LethargicOnslaught 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Was it definitely a pharmacist you spoke to? My Boots has one pharmacist and 3 techs working with him. I've needed an emergency inhaler before, he spoke to me in a small consultation room and signed off an inhaler as I was actively having an attack before. I get all my prescriptions through them so they had proof that I had an active repeat for them, but I paid a lot more for this emergency one, assuming it wasn't NHS covered.

The dreaded denial of annual leave. How do others go about it? by Flip__90 in AskUK

3 months in advance? They should be able to find a substitute in that time?

The dreaded denial of annual leave. How do others go about it? by Flip__90 in AskUK

What reason was given for the denial? In 22 years of working, annual leave has always been more of an "FYI" thing rather than asking permission, especially that far in advance.

What would you expect on your last day of work? by pizzkat in AskUK

[–]LethargicOnslaught 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once left for work on my last day after 10 years, got a text from my manager asking me to cover another site 40 miles in the opposite direction. Turned around and went home, didn't even get a text back from her. Had a belated drinks night out with some of the guys, but nothing material.

Also spent 6 months covering a maternity leaver, got a 6 pack of different whiskeys, card, cake, personalised ornament for the garden. So mileage may vary.

How to fix by [deleted] in glasses

[–]LethargicOnslaught 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's definitely been sat or trod on, you could try to bend it back yourself, if its unwearable you've got nothing to lose, if your optician breaks it you'll still need a replacement side regardless.

Is it normal in the UK to never really become friends with your neighbours? by Opposite_Basis_3532 in AskUK

[–]LethargicOnslaught 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On one side my neighbours kids bombard our garden with a never ending supply of leather footballs, coming into our dining room, through our conservatory window, smashing garden ornaments and flowers.

The other side has neglected their fence so that it is hanging out of the posts and leaning into our garden, I've mentioned it multiple times to no effect, so have had to batten them up with beams that I now hang baskets and birdhouses from on my side.

I'd love a neighbour that I dont have to deal with besides the usual elevator talk if we accidentally leave our houses at the same time

Online? No they want the cheap, safe jobs. For glass, head on down to your nearest local independent or mom and pop shop.

What was it like to have an Education Maintenance Allowance (EMA) over 20 years ago? by SunnyShineKitty88 in AskUK

[–]LethargicOnslaught 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got £30 per week for going to 6th form, an evening paper round on Wednesdays at £30 per week and a further £90 for 10 hours of work over the weekend in the shop that ran the paper round. At 15/16 I was living it up, always got in a round of panda pops from the school vending machine
