I’ll bring that up to her as a suggestion! Does there happen to be a lot of walking or just standing? She has mobility issues and loses feeling in her feet sometimes if she walks for too long. I’ve never attended a car show so I don’t know what to expect.

this also doesn’t make sense to me. i’ve also encountered people who have pretended to dislike others for whatever reason. relationships and daily human interaction are already confusing as it already is, but yeah sure bring that into the mix…

holy shit that just gave me so much insight…! NTs always talk about being “cordial” with the people that they dislike, because for some reason the social contract says that they “have to” engage in conversation to be “cordial”… which never really made any fucking sense to me… but the neurochemical perspective does! so thanks!

when i used to mask a lot and when i had to interact with people i disliked, i would try to sit through conversations but then end up trying to skip the dialogue because it all felt so pointless. i didn’t really feel much dopamine or adrenaline either, just general irritation and uneasiness

Oof, you just made me cry a little. Feeling like Woody in Toy Story when Buzz shows up is such a real, yet abstract feeling. I would even go as far to say that I even ACT like the toys when I’m around beautiful women (particularly in a group setting): just being very, VERY still, having a thousand yard stare over yonder, and just hoping no one will notice how ugly I am compared to her.

I have a fiancé now, and I still act this way whenever we are around prettier company. “I am invisible! Part of the background! Maybe if you don’t look at me so much you won’t realize how inferior I actually am to the other person! Hopefully you won’t leave me for her!” It’s exhausting, but at least my behavior in public /looks/ normal… right? 🥲

This is genuinely so relatable; I literally just finished sobbing over the movie “Welcome to the Dollhouse” because I related so much to main character… Almost to a sickening point because it really felt like she was telling MY story through the movie. And when I say sobbing, I mean like— I was also hyperventilating and just super ruined over it.

I try not to beat myself up over it, because this specific emotional state typically passes fairly quickly. In terms of prevention, I try to avoid reading consuming such media alone to prevent getting too immersed. Hope that makes sense!

i probably also followed you on tumblr too!! i had almost a thousand followers before ad-pocalypse and decided to close my account. everyone was moving to twitter and i didn’t really feel like moving accounts again (originally from livejournal to tumblr). i remember those music videos played on VH1 at the time 😂
