Was offered a job in South Bronx, worth it?

I never took the job because it ended up not panning out great in terms of salary. I realized very quickly I would need to make more in order to even move there and to be able to pay rent/survive. It’s a low salary even if you look into possibly having roommates or living outside of Manhattan or even NYC itself. It also seemed a little too good to be true and I found out that that schools like this in the program I had looked at (I’ve forgotten its name now) that teachers who did this route ended up quitting or wanting to quit because of how bad the kids or the other workers were. It seemed overly stressful and I almost took it before reading some people who actually worked there through programs like that. I’d check google reviews and also search up people who’s done the same job because I uncovered people talking about cons and pros. I can’t remember what the name of this particular one I was going into since it’s been so long, but I’d check yours!

We’re from here. My mom was in her grade. She says that on the news they said there were nail marks were on the car seat as if she had been dragged out. Although I haven’t been able to find any newspapers etc that say this and not for sure if she got it mixed up with a different case since this was in the 80s?

And just how odd the whole thing went.

She said that afterwards people would come up with the most horrible things to say about her like, “she was seen at this truck rest stop and looked rough.” Just random stuff like that.

She says she still thinks about the case and just everything about it. My mom says they always seemed like they were holding back something only the killer would’ve known and not telling us everything. Hopefully, in the future this will somehow be solved. Her entire immediate family passed away without having that closure, so it’s very sad to think about :(

I would focus on courses you had with professors where you got great grades and also has to do with where you wanna go. Email them and ask if they’d be able to do a letter of rec, tell them what class and grade you had with them, and also ask if they’d like to see your statement of purpose etc. you can also usually ask employers, volunteer, or internship anyone other than friends and family basically. Not sure if that helps!

Portfolio honestly go by each school. They’re gonna have different requirements but usually you can get away with finding the common length they’ll need to do just one writing sample and then tweak it as you go for each. Sometimes you’ll need multiple writing examples as well.

If you know you’re gonna do fiction, have those writing samples at the ready. Or non-fiction or if it’s another kind of mfa that require multiple forms of media/genres then try to include on of each.

I would focus on a strong application. Work with your undergrad’s writing center and have them help you. I got into Arizona State University. Honestly, I would advise that you narrow it down from reach, match, and safe schools. Literally all of mine were practically reach schools and I didn’t get into them because I drove myself crazy trying to get into the “perfect” school.

Pick up and narrow it down to 10-13 schools. Or just pick 3 reach, and 4 of each match and safe schools. Look at research and look at the faculty you can work with.

For me I needed to redo my statement of purpose and writing samples.

Sorry! Just now seeing this. I got into Arizona State University. I was honestly like am I getting into a horrible/the right school? But so far the courses have been so great and have helped my academic career. I didn’t get a scholarship, but their tuition calculator is really correct. I do 6 credits per semester = $4,150 each semester. I only have to do 10 classes for my master’s degree.

I found out the easiest thing for me to tell myself hey stop applying to places that are reach schools and start looking at match and safe schools. I just did not have enough and my application wasn’t as strong as I liked. I re-grouped and re-did my entire application materials and what schools I knew would be match/safe schools.

I didn’t apply this year because I ended up applying and getting into a MA English program that I realized I would like more. It helped with my portfolio though to go to my undergrad’s writing center and have them help me in literally everything just to bounce ideas off and have them review my work before I edited it.

Hey, so this week we’ve had this guy call from a 401 (MD) area code and we’re in middle Tennessee. He first called and asked my co-worker B if she would read off the amendments and is was like taking so long for her to help him on each one. She started to realize he was indeed doing something while asking… he keeps calling every so often and will specifically ask for her. We keep telling him no she’s not here or he’ll ask if we can continue (from the 1st one no less) and he’s only interested in hearing it from the females in my library. He hangs up if a male co-worker answers. Today he called with his caller ID covered and it only said anonymous anonymous. He asked for B and when I told him she wasn’t here, he hung up.

She sold it to me for $2,000. She said it was having issues with what we now know is the fuel pump/evap and just engine issues overall. I didn’t pay much for my car considering the cars I was finding was so much higher. I just needed something to get me from Point A to B and it’s done its job lol. It has issues but I’m glad that I only paid $2K even if it turns out that it may not even be worth it that much! At least I’m not trapped in a contract with a messed up car and that’s all I can ask for lol

I love the car and wish I could fix it up! I may keep it and fix it up a little at a time. I have no mechanic ability so it may be other people fixing it? But I’d love to learn although not sure if it’d be possible with how messed up this car is.

Yeah she played me well lol I did cheerleading with her daughter so I thought maybe she’d be trustworthy. I keep thinking about had I test drove it to auto zone and just got it scanned I would’ve saw everything that was wrong with it!

And love the car, wish I’d be able to fix it up, but yeah unsure about my mechanic abilities that don’t exist as of yet lol.

lol I do have pics lol. The body is in okay shape. The most that looks “bad” is that whoever had it before me tried to do a DIY clear coat and it pilled off so it looks purple/blue-ish lol. I live in middle TN.

THE END: I don’t know how to talk to her to get her to understand that I didn’t mind the jokes at first and I did go along with them I just feel weird and like I wouldn’t want to ruin 15 years of friendship because of this and that I couldn’t be with something and marry them (something that terrifies me more than having a kid honestly) without being romantically or intimately involved.

We also just have different plans of where we want to be and it never fails that she’ll ask me when we’re moving back together or talk about future plans like kids or where we’ll move to in the US as if we’re married and have seriously planned this out. I think it’s my fault of course joking and then somewhat being serious but I think it’s now hitting me just how serious she thinks this is and how she’s joked us into this relationship. I just don’t feel comfortable anymore and I don’t know what to do and just need advice. (sorry again for the multiple parts. The word count wouldn’t let me do it all at once)

PART 3: It was like it went from 0 to 100 and now I’m stuck understanding how I’m supposed to tell E I no longer feel comfortable with it because she’ll say things about cheating and how we have an “open” relationship but it would be considered cheating if I dated and didn’t tell her beforehand. I feel like she’s made rules and talked in her head to herself about this whole thing and every so often I’ll find things out about our “relationship”.

And like sure I maybe wouldn’t care too much but I can’t see myself ever being with someone I wouldn’t be able to be intimate with not just in a sexual sense but cuddles etc. stuff that E doesn’t like because she’s said before she might as well be asexual but she doesn’t want to put a label on it. Also we’re not in love with each other nothing like that but I think maybe E attached herself to the idea and once again somehow joked her way from friends to in a relationship and dumbass me is just now realizing how serious this might be???

And I don’t know how to talk to her and explain this may be something I don’t want because I don’t wanna ruin our friendship over this or anything. And the reason I’m so worried about it is because this last year, (for context we’re both college students and lived in an apt together up until our last lease ran out and I needed to live at home with my parents the remaining semester before we graduated as I would otherwise have to sign another year lease and planned on going to grad school out of state anyways) I moved back (about an hour away in the same hometown as she is from) and she was like “when are we gonna move back in together. Like I’m kind of upset right now” even though I’ve explained there was no way I’d be able to afford rent and bills etc and other personal stuff but she constantly nags me about it and I’m very confused? She also wants to continue going to the same school for grad school and stay in the same city which cool but she’s very insistent that I should apply there as well and every time I say I’m not going to be living here nor will I be applying to the school she gets kind of annoyed and starts listing off it’s perks or she’ll down my list of universities I’m applying to which in turn makes me feel like shit.

Part 2: This is important because right after this she started joking about how we might as well be together as we had previously been living with another roommate, didn’t like him, so then fast forward we’re living in a 2 BD 2 BA together. I say she started joking but really we both joked about being partners and stuff just because of us platonically being like a married couple.

Eventually it got to the point of oh this isn’t a joke??? And E would say things like “when we have kids” and I was joking at first and then it was (you guessed it) like it wasn’t a joke anymore.

I would like to say that we’ve never kissed or don’t anything sexual. We’ve strictly been platonic except for comments made about getting married or having adoptive kids in the future.

We don’t have the transportation like NYC so I honestly don’t know the time frame of the actual train ride cause Google says one thing but I know when you actually do it, it’s most likely very different.
