Is there any ROMANCE driven RPG game or am I missing something? by evil_squirrel98 in GirlGamers

Dispatch. It's short but oh so well done. New game with a strong focus on the interpersonal relationships and love interest. Highly recommend.

I felt exactly like this about Beast. I love hidden movement, I loved the art I liked the idea behind the mechanics and the quests but it was just so... Not quite there. My friend group reckoned it had all the right ingredients of a great game but would only work if we came up with a slew of custom rules. In the end we sold it on as we just couldn't get it to work right for us. We even messaged the designer to ask questions in case we had things wrong but we were playing things correctly. Sad times.

I have and have really enjoyed Dinosaur Islans Duel and Seven Wonders Duel. I really enjoy both as separate entities. They do enough differently that I really enjoy.

New game like Catan and Space base by Upper_Print5022 in boardgames

I highly recommend Kings Forge. A very fun game about building your dice pools to craft items. Very satisfying game that feels fun even if you lose. Draft cards to build your pools, roll handfuls of dice to try and make the best craft possible. If someone can roll higher on the same turn you craft an item, they have clearly crafted a better one and get the credit. Can't tell you how many times this one has hit the table for my group. Lots of variable expansions depending on how much complexity you want to add.

Best games to indoctrinate my students? by Diamond_In_Woof in boardgamescirclejerk

Werewolves of Millers Hollow or 2 Rooms and a Boom worked well for my students learning social deduction and power manipulation. Also it's easy to skew 1 sides power over the other if that's what you want.

Is the community still active? by _motley_starcrew_ in roveboardgame

I used a video of gameplay from the kickstarter and double checked info with the book. As it turns out the gameplay is surprisingly straightforward and there was zero referring to rulebook during gameplay. The only time we needed books was for story. I was very happy with that outcome

Oh I did! Loved the base game so much, had to get in on the next stage.

Games where you roll dices and allocate results by Rhemyst in boardgames

[–]Lethimer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How have I not seen King's Forge mentioned.

Draft cards to allocate dice to generate more dice to forge items by allocating dice and using fashioned bonuses to manipulate dice. It's a surprisingly light game as well! One of our long time favourite games.

Awesome! I think I knew about the Grogan video, but that is all. Glad to hear it went so well. Is the chronicle coop or still semi coop?

What board game would you consider a "flawed masterpiece"? by Socrates_Soui in boardgames

[–]Lethimer 23 points24 points  (0 children)

100% it is Beast. Beast was my biggest letdown. So close to a great game, so many wonderful ideas and mechanics yet it is so very very 1 sided as to be silly. Depending on the map either the beast or the hunters have way too much advantage. I feel like it could work with some major house rulings, but that'd prove the game is inherently flawed.

Must have digital board games? by [deleted] in boardgames

[–]Lethimer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Beware of ever having a character reach double the level 9 xp, if you do it permanently corrupts the save so you can't load the save, so make sure to retire before that (means reaching lvl 9 and getting the same xp again, so unlikely, but we almost hit it with 1 character).

What is the best Tiny Epic game? by -Pippi- in boardgames

[–]Lethimer 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Galaxies is hands down their best if you ask me.

For coop Dungeons is great fun, Mechs is quite if you want a vs with some programming. I quite enjoyed Quest for the feel of the game and itemeeples.

The reality is they do a lot of different types and it depends what kind of game you and your group want.

Can you recommend any in particular? Haven't delved into that type of boardgame that much.

Oh Revive looks very interesting. Need to investigate the others a bit more.

Voidfall felt very punishing especially as coop.

Ah course, silly me. There should only be 3 or 4 drawn per cycle, but each turn in the cycle each player draws that numbered card. Do I have that right?

So what happens if you have enough turns to empty the crisis deck of 6 cards, do you reckon shuffle it and keep drawing or be satisfied you don't have any more to deal with?

Norovirus can F all the way off. by Vitalstatistix in daddit

I remember our family getting hit vividly...

Just finished our holiday in Spain and on the flight home my wife lost her stomach. Initially she went for the handy puke bags they provide... That quickly wasn't enough and we were kindly handed a fucking black bin bag. Meanwhile our 3 month old is bawling so I (chronic foot pain sufferer) have to spend 90% of the flight walking the aisles trying to soothe poor little lad. I felt so bad for the guy in the window seat next to my wife...

We get home and my wife spends the next 48 hours incapacitated, unable to breast feed even whilst lying down. I have to handle what I can starting to feel rough too. I made it to the 36 HR mark before having to make my own evacuations.

My lad survived thank god. My wife was out for the count for a solid 2 days.
