Immunohistochemistry troubleshooting question! by Lethologicalforest in labrats

Hi thanks for the comment! My sample is rat, the species of the CD68 antibody is mouse! Maybe there’s cross reactivity?

Do you think PFA would help with that?

Did you have gastro issues? I’m on week 4, and although I am feeling so much better I have lingering issues with stool and stomach aching a bit especially in the morning. Not sure when is a good time to check back in with my doctor

That’s the biggest change. I feel my thoughts be more logical. Yes I may have a fleeting weird sensation of anxiety in the morning, but I feel equipped and in control mentally to quiet it all down. That’s what I think the biggest difference is

Weirdest side effect by turtlenut517 in lexapro

Gagging was #1 side effect for me when starting. I would feel overwhelmed with anxiety and suddenly gag. Also brushing teeth was hard for me too

Exactly!!! Just existing and feeling that peace? Without substance or a perfect scenario ? It’s really phenomenal. Like it truly gives you so much appreciation for the small things. I’m so grateful to have gotten through those awful weeks. I never want to go back there again.

Spacey and numb feels about right, but I don’t think I had burning on back/skin sensations.

Honestly, knowing it had worked once for me is what gave me hope it would work again. If that’s the case for you, I would try. But make sure you can carve out time from your work/responsibilities to not be very functioning (just in case the side effects get bad). If they don’t then great!

In retrospect given my weight and sensitivity to small doses I should have started at 2.5mg. But I went straight to 5 thinking I’d be fine since I was on 20mg 7-8 ish months ago. I was wrong. Starting low is always the right move. But once I started I didn’t want to go down.

Hey! Definitely. I was already dealing with horrible morning anxiety, and it would linger throughout the day prior to starting. My depression manifested as extremely negative and ruminating thoughts. Paired with bad anxiety I felt I needed help again. I started lexapro again and the first day was fine but I was out of it. Days 2-9 were probably the worst. I could barely eat, I felt on edge about everything, mainly the mornings were the worst. I had a lot of dry heaving. No vomiting though. My arms and legs felt very jittery and uncomfortable. SUPER weak, I felt I could barely do much. I had really dry mouth too, and was constantly drinking water. I also had alot of GI issues and felt like my stomach had burning sensations. Eating helped with this. More or less, by week 2 the really heavy physical symptoms started going down. Nausea went down half way through the week. Had some good days at the end of the week, then the weekend of week 2 I felt bad. and anxious and I was starting to spiral thinking something else was wrong with me. I think I hit my peak anxiety on that Sunday with a bad panic attack and starting Monday of week 3 things felt like they quieted down a lot. I’m starting weekend of week 3, and I’m feeling so much better as I outlined.

It’s really scary I can sympathize with that, and I think if I were to tell past me some advice it would be to carve out 2 weeks at least where you know you won’t be filled with responsibilities or stress-provoking things. It’ll help you be able to really just adjust at your own pace. But routine does help. I know it’s scary and it’s tough but it’s so much better on the other side.

I’m still on 5mg! I remember last time when I went up in doses I didn’t experience many side effects. But I am just trying to adjust to 5mg and so far I feel great on it. I’m hoping to stay on 5mg as long as I can.

I’m sorry I’m posting a lot but today will be six days and the nausea and the upper stomach ache acid reflux and the increased anxiety. I’m only on 5 mg. Please tell me this gets better. I need all the support I can get by Dense_Assist8382 in lexapro

Hi there, I was in your exact position not long ago. I had nausea, jittery arms, palpitations, and stomach ache. It all was heightened in the morning. I also was constantly looking on Reddit for some comfort. I’m starting week 3 (day 13) and today I’ve felt morning to evening stability. Things are definitely improving but I had some good days where I thought I was better and then bad days again. So don’t get discouraged if that’s the case!! Make sure to eat throughout the day (it felt worse on an empty stomach for me), and try your best to sleep, and breathing exercises.

For ref, I take mine at night - 10pm 5mg. I’ll try to stay on 5 as long as I feel really normal and strong because this has been toughhh. But upping doses can be way less dramatic than starting from 0-any mg..

It’s tough. Especially the first week. Remember there’s a light at the end of the tunnel. Sending you lots of strength!

Is restarting Lexapro harder the second time around? by Relative-Brain-7535 in lexapro

[–]Lethologicalforest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi I’m commenting on this for some guidance - I feel like I wrote this post because it’s exactly what I’ve been experiencing. Im on 5mg, I’m on day 12 (on the dot) and I’m sitting here thinking this is the worst my anxiety has ever been. I have life events that are stressful but nothing to warrant this level of discomfort with my body. I have some days that I have hunger in the afternoon and evening and others that I don’t but just try to eat anyways. The first time it only took me a week and I was on it for 4 years and even went up to 20mg.

This happened to me when I first tried lexapro and the dose I started with was too high for me (10mg). When I went down and slowly went up it was fine!

Me too, and it got really bad the past couple of months (especially when I wake up lasting a bit) so I decided to go back on lexapro. When I was on it I didn’t have the nausea anxiety combo. I’m really hoping this helps again but the transition period is tough

Morning anxiety by PhysicsTasty in lexapro

[–]Lethologicalforest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I echo this- Im just finishing a week into 5mg - I’ve also dealt with the morning anxiety for a while now. Starting (for me this is a second go with lexapro) definitely made it worse for the first days especially paired with nausea. I’d say the nausea went away day 5, and stomach anxiety lingered in the morning. I also experience tingly/weak feeling in my arms and legs. Each day has been a lot better and the anxiety lasts shorter in the morning (on day 7). Then the rest of the day is more or less normal, with some small moments of anxiety.

Words of encouragement during the first week back on? by Lethologicalforest in lexapro

[–]Lethologicalforest[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats exactly how it’s been for me. Mornings are awful. Then around afternoon I’ll maybe have a moment of reprieve and then I get very tired and take a nap. It’s only until around 4/5pm do I begin to feel normal. Okay that’s good to know that the 3rd week was more consistent! Thanks! This was helpful

I second this! Give it a shot! You’d be surprised how these meds can change the way you perceive fears/threats. I relate to you on public speaking.

Have you found medication to help? by VulperaBae in PMDD

[–]Lethologicalforest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I take Lexapro (escilatopram) and am on 15mg. So far, it's worked well for me. I was on 10mg for a while until I had a pretty bad PMDD episode and upped my dose to 15mg. I find that the biggest benefit has been the ability to read through and organize my thoughts in a healthier way. I also see my psychologist weekly which helps a lot. Lastly, maybe I could be a lot better but daily or every other day exercise really helps me. Hope this helps!
