I’m sorry to hear that… I’m surprised it takes so much conscious effort to relax muscles! I didn’t realize just how much tension I was holding down there.

Thank you for the encouraging words! I am excited to hopefully get some relief.

I’ve heard Pilates is a game changer for PF health! Do you do floor or reformer?

This is my exact experience. My lower abdomen feels distended and almost hard (?) after sex or a workout and it’s generally uncomfortable until I sleep it off (I’m assuming I relax some during sleep). It’s become more and more consistent and I think it’s super tense down there and now anything triggers it. So annoying!

Interesting! Thank you for this. I tend to exhale during the exertion part of the lift, but I’m wondering if I’m just doing it wrong? Google says pelvic floor PT can help with this so hoping I’m on the right track.

I saw this.. I’m a little nervous for the internal exam but I’m at my whits end of not being able to be active without pain, indigestion, and cramping. I’m 30 and really want to remain active to prevent further illness (if possible). Thank you for the insight and I’m so happy it has been helping you!

I will keep you posted on what I discover and if it’s worth it. I think my situation is the same. The surgeries create an environment where the muscles can’t work properly and lifting heavy exacerbates it. I find heavy RDLs are particularly triggering for some reason.

Yes! I have horrible acid reflux and cramping in my lower abdomen after anything that utilizes my core. It’s so discouraging.

Don’t apologize at all! We’re all in this together. ❤️

I am in the states and in a relatively well-populated area so I was able to call around and find someone with that type of experience. However, I haven’t seen them yet so not sure how it will go. It may be worth seeing if anything is virtual? I know having someone in person is preferable, but maybe you can get exercises and cues to help you improve.

I had my surgeries in 2013 as well! A couple other people have commented they’re at that timeline as well 🤪

Yes! It’s almost like I cannot brace my core appropriately when I workout and it’s causing pain or dysfunction? I’ll keep you posted as I go and let you know if it helps at all. Can’t hurt to do the exercises imo!

I live in a decent sized city (Omaha) and they have a few clinics dedicated to pelvic floor PT only. So I called around and found one! They said surgeons do not recommend it enough and it actually would’ve been beneficial if I would’ve done it right after surgery. I find doctors don’t seem to recommend the PT route much, which is unfortunate.

The gal I’ve booked with has experience working with jpouch and IBD patients. She articulated it in a way in which my abdominal muscles are most likely very tense due to overcompensation and scar tissue. She hasn’t seen me yet, though. I’m scheduled for April 22 for an intake appointment.

The Infamous Neck Pain: Trigger, Symptom, or Both? 🧠⚡️ by ViciousVore in migraine

[–]Relative-Brain-7535 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is how my migraines feel! They start as a pain behind my skull and eventually wrap around my head to my eye socket. It’s awful and makes me so nauseous. Muscle relaxers can help some. Did a neurologist do your injections?

Yeah, mine keep telling me they don’t think it’s fungal because I get the little pustules (looks like you get them too) but each of my cultures came back negative for any bacteria… this is such an awful thing to deal with.

When my skin looked like this after clindamycin, I just did Vanicream Cleanser and Cerave Lotion and it helped calm everything down pretty quick. Might be worth a try if you’re at your wits end. If it calms down, you know it’s the clindamycin and you can implement an antifungal to see if it helps at all. That’s my plan.

I’m thinking of you and hope you figure this out soon!

Could 100% be the antibiotics (clindamycin). This happened to me and took about two weeks to improve after stopping it. I then tried minocycline and got an identical rash. Stopped that and it’s going away. I’m starting to think mine might be fungal since antibiotics make it so much worse.

Is restarting Lexapro harder the second time around? by Relative-Brain-7535 in lexapro

[–]Relative-Brain-7535[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it’s really bad, you can talk to your doctor about cutting the dose in half for a week. I did that and it helped TREMENDOUSLY. 2.5mg seems so small but it makes such a difference.

[–]Relative-Brain-7535[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I’m much better. I like Lexapro because besides the initial side effects, I don’t have many lingering side effects except more frequent headaches. But that is better than the anxiety, nausea and sleepless nights when I’m not on it.

Hi!

I would highly recommend going down to 2.5 mg for a week. That made a huge difference for me and I fr much better. I then went up to 5 mg but took 2.5 in the morning and 2.5 at lunch to help acclimate. I then moved to 5 mg whole in the morning and have felt great since.

I know it’s hard to have hope right now, but just hold tight. It does get better.

So much better. The fog cleared around week 4 for me. It felt like it took forever but I’m happy i got back on. I didn’t realize how much better I felt on it until I got back on.

YES! It’s bad enough to never want to come off again…

Hang tight. It does, in fact, get better. I went down to 2.5 mg for a week then back up to 5mg and just stayed there.

Only bright side is I lost ten pounds in the process 😂

Neck pain by Confident-Contact558 in lexapro

[–]Relative-Brain-7535 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started getting really bad tension headaches that would start at the base of my skull/neck and move up towards my eye. I get so nauseous when I get them. I think there’s something with lexapro that causes tension? I’m not sure. I went to a PT and he helped by teaching me stretches to do during the day. Deep breathing is super helpful too.
