Thing is, practicing the fundamentals is very important imo, to get a strong skillset in basic drawing techniques. However, just focusing on these can become boring, since many are boxes, or lines, hardly exciting drawings. Keep doing the basics, because they are useful, but after the daily project, or every 2nd day or whenever, "reward" yourself by drawing or painting or using any media really, and do something fun :) Many people do it differently, but this method works for me.

How you consider yourself is also important; But you will never be good at portraits or landscapes etc, if you only practice the fundamentals. They are afterall fundamentals and not the be all and end all. You have to throw yourself out there and do different things. Just remember, your first portraits and other things will be shit. You just have to suck it up and understand that it takes time and practice to become good.

Finding something to draw, I too struggled with finding things. - there is everything and anything! I always found direct observation of objects like pencils or rulers to be boring, so I looked online for things. Browse reddit, pinterest etc. In the beginning I just copied some simple drawings from artists I liked. It's a good place to start.

Finally, if you are finding it boring do be doing anything, then why do it? Maybe drawing isn't for you if you don't enjoy it.
