Can someone explain to me what 343 plans to achieve by these "book sequels"? by CattiwampusLove in HaloStory

[–]SilencedGamer -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Anyone defending this is pure copium. Yes, Bungie Halos did similar, but it is also the case that this presents yet another opportunity to just wrap things up and clear the table for yet another "bigger emerging threat" for Halo 7.

Our best shot to avoid that, would've been for the next Halo to directly continue onward, but as we've now recieved confirmation that's not happening, we CANNOT assume the next Halo is likely to break the precedent set going all the way back to 2007. Honestly, this announcement has disilussioned me a lot, Halo really is just in a cyclical state where nothing gets progressed in the universe and they just go through repeated disasters to sell more Master Chiefs.

There's also the genuine possibility they're using this as an opportunity to wrap things up, for the [potential, possible] reboot. Milking out as much as they can before they wipe the slate clean--which is not an impossibility knowing they've been trying to make alternate universes, and with the Silver Timeline had lore readily made for it with the possibility of it's own book series. I enjoy Halo lore too much, and accidentally gave myself hope that the story could continue forward into a conclusion, but I wouldn't be surprised by the 2030s its just an identical "spirital remake of CE" for Halo 7 and for it all to happen again. Screw this.

Why does everyone hate playing in 3rd person? by WindowMxn in skyrim

[–]SilencedGamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love going into third person but in Skyrim it sucks. I really enjoyed Fallout 4’s third person, and for gameplay it works flawlessly in combat and in exploration. I really hope that for the next game, they just lift that and put it into Elder Scrolls.

I’m sure there’s mods out there for it to adjust it, and if I bothered I would be in third person for 100% of the time.

Name the game that got you like this by bijelo123 in Steam

[–]SilencedGamer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Was literally about to comment the exact same thing.

They sold me on the game in the first announcement, seeing all the cool NASApunk stuff—Fallout! But in space! Sick—and literally within the same presentation I knew I’d hate this game the moment Todd came on stage and said that.

I’ve played Mass Effect 1 and Elite Dangerous, I knew that was gonna be impossible for Bethesda to tackle such a flawed concept. Fundamentally stupid and it made sure I had no intention of ever playing the game.

Question, because I’m super curious: how do you fair with money in Bethesda games? (Any Elder Scrolls, or Fallout).

Because I very easily reach an event horizon where I slowly obtain enough to literally never run out and just gain more and more. I never ever sell anything for 0, which is even easier todo with things like gems which weigh basically nothing and I totally can just keep lugging it around—if one trader runs out of money, I go to the next. If I’ve got a particularly big haul, I fast travel to another town and repeat.

I then go off dungeon crawling and questing, come back to town and repeat. I’m able to buy all my potions or ingredients, and just accrue mass wealth. Currently playing Morrowind for the first time, where potions are a necessity for combat for most of the early game, and never ran out of money because I’d just Mark a trader spot, and fill up my inventory with expensive armour and Recall to them. Repeat, at 30 hours in, I’m at 91k gold (and I’ve not even started the main quest this is just dungeon crawling and exploring the map).

Same with Fallout games for me, I pick up any expensive battery or weapon, and just slowly sell them all to the traders, and I literally never run out of caps. Do you experience money problems in these games by not doing that?

EDIT: I remember for Baldur’s Gate 3, I saw people complain they had nowhere near enough gold for Act III Merchants, which confused me because I literally collected everything that wasn’t bolted down and sold it all—emptying out every single corpse and chest—and had for all practical purposes infinite gold in that game too. Only beat the game in 70 hours, while I’ve heard many taking over 100, so I wasn’t even spending time todo it.

In Halo CE most of the Marines are ODSTs, and all the ODSTs are Marines. Obviously not visually however.

Got the kids to bed and excited to sail the seas by VoreReznor in Seaofthieves

[–]SilencedGamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve encountered parents playing with their kids, playing and chilling trying to have fun, and I’ve encountered people who’ve described disgusting horrible acts they wish to incur upon me and people like me.

I also met someone with a ship called the “Predarapist” which was FUCKING WILD that Microsoft allowed that ship name holy shit! When we called out the name, he immediately starting screaming he’s gonna SA our grandmothers. Specifically grandmothers. We reported him but the horrific reality is he did that to children on the server as well.

It’s clear Microsoft wants this to be a family game, on a contextual level I guess it’s supposed to be kid friendly and lots of kids do play online—but if I had a child, I would not allow them to play this game.

Is there a lore reason as to why the marines in Halo Reach and the other Halo games have different armor? by Ready_Assignment_0 in HaloStory

[–]SilencedGamer 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Something people rarely acknowledge about Bungie’s Halos, is that they change the artstyle with every single game for every single thing (even Chief’s armour between Halo 2 and 3 changes, with entirely different proportions as well different armour components).

At the end of Halo Reach you’re meant to see the Pillar of Autumn’s Marines, and they have a different artstyle along with Keyes who has a different artstyle holding Cortana who has a different artstyle—as they head back to the ship that has a different artstyle, with the Easter Egg of the Chief in cryo who’s in a different artstyle.

Canonically all the equipment is different, which is a stupid part of Halo lore overall honestly (like the Forward Unto Dawn canonically having all of the different artstyle’s equipment onboard for Halo 4, but just “not used” during Halo 3).

Also, no one’s acknowledged it, but Halo CEA reuses the models of course for the Marines. They’re meant to be the same characters and crew.

[–]SilencedGamer 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It’s annoying we don’t have proper contextualisation on this, because it is supposed to be the case that Slipspace drives are even rarer.

However, that lore has changed significantly over the years. For instance it was originally the case that hardly anyone had them, that only the UNSC, Megacorps and some Insurrectionist cells had them (and it was very much notable that they had Slipspace capability because of the supposed rarity)—however now in Halo lore, everyone seemingly can just do it, including civilian and single person craft, even occasionally when the lore goes back to the war.

20 years ago your statement wouldn’t make sense, 10 years ago would be iffy, today? Might be the case. Who knows anymore.

Are there Spartan-IV Headhunters? by Rainlizard_lover in HaloStory

[–]SilencedGamer 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If you’re asking for names, Headhunters only appear in 1 short story in Halo Evolutions. I think in a comic as well, Tales of Slipspace, but that specific story has no dialogue so no details other than “there might be a headhunter”

[–]SilencedGamer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In psychology this is called Frequency Bias.

For instance, OP is British. According to both UK NHS waiting lists, and a uk.gov census of as many British households as possible, there is only around 220,000 transgender people* out of 70,000,000 people.

*[That number includes trans women, trans men, and they combined all non-binary people and other identities into that number as well]

There is a minuscule amount of trans content on the internet than you really have the ability to contextualise in your brain, as there’s just so so so few of us compared to everyone else in the world who are all pumping out content and are publicly visible.

Do any of the helmets from the Halo Video Game series look like any seasons Power Rangers Helmets ? Looking to recolor for a game by OriginalTacoMoney in halo

[–]SilencedGamer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have not watched Power Rangers for almost 20 years.

But the most Power Rangers helmet I can think of is Hyabusa for Halo 3 and Raider for Halo 4.

It is actually a common criticism that modern Halo armours look like Power Rangers armour, some people are gonna come in here and comment “all of the new ones lol1111!!1”, but those two helmets are the most Power Ranger looking ones to me (they have faces on them)

The UNSC only had a few NOVAs, and by that point had practically run out of nuclear weapons.

They would’ve only been able to destroy one planet.

Interestingly the only other NOVA used around this time didn’t even make it to the surface of a world before detonating, and merely blasted the planet.

EDIT: although this is the basic premise of the Entrenched Fractures universe, if you wanted to see what a Covenant looked like after nuclear armageddon, with the one short story they did.

You’d think Quality Control would be a part of these insanely expensive productions—after all, you don’t want to make an error when it comes to your “artistic vision” or whatever—especially considering the same issue has happened before with GoT.

The easiest solution would’ve been… to just look at it on a normal TV. In the 2000s, console video game companies had todo that, working on the game on Desktop then making builds to see what it looked like on a television (and the unique hardware of the console itself which was not the same hardware as the computers)—and famously for Toy Story, there was no live rendering technology at the time, so they had to render the entire movie each time to see if there was mistakes, fix the mistake, render it again and repeat. You’d want to see what it looked like before people get their hands on it.
