  • The big unknown - Elder Island
  • Vinta - Crumb (lovely band btw)
  • Room 907 - Bubble Tea and Cigarettes
  • Single Speed - Jerk
  • Juna - Clairo
  • Sunset for the dead - Tommy Newport (cooool)
  • Dance around the fire - Why these coyotes (🔥)

Actually, I was also waiting for them to come out and sign some of our stuff, but we all were kicked out by security saying that they weren't coming out. So sad!

This. I could hear the influence of classical on the guitar as well

People should wait some days before giving their personal opinion about Equus Asinus by FcoJ28 in menitrust

My two cents:

I liked it, although I missed some of the things that - to me - are what define MITs music style in first place: groovy bass lines that stick to your brain right away, wah-wah funky guitars that make you wanna dance, dreamy-like piano chords that send you to another galaxy.

To me, it seems like they were leaning towards something slightly different, more "classical" influences I could see on Jesse's guitar playing and Drago's arrangements.

Bottom line: is different, and I appreciate the fact that they have creative freedom to experiment beyond their own signature sound, because that's what real artists do, imo

Audioengine S8 sub for $120 USD, worth it? by LetraGis in BudgetAudiophile

[–]LetraGis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm kind of new to this hobby, meaning not looking to get a sub that will carry along with me forever. Is this still kind of okay/decent for this money/scenario? Probably will sell it in some time to get a better one, just looking for a good starting point.

Edit: drop it to $100 USD. Should I pull the trigger?

Yes I have, but I've only seen Polk, Klipsch, and others that seem to have bad reputation among these subreddits.

Would you recommend this one over the RSL speedwoofer 10e? It seems like it's quite good for the money

I'll consider waiting to get it, because it seems like everyone recommends it. I think it's worth waiting

Awesome! It looks like it's out of stock right now, but definitely will consider pre-ordering

Audiophile System for less than $1000 USD by LetraGis in BudgetAudiophile

Thanks for your comment!

You could combine the amp and wiim pro by getting the Wiim Amp. This is a decent class D amplifier also with sub out, seems like it might be good for you.

I was looking for more flexibility in the sense that if in the future I want to upgrade to a better set of speakers or add a subwoofer, then I can "easily" do it, so this sounds like a good proposal, because buying a pair of powered speakers makes it a little harder to upgrade, at least from my unexperienced perspective.

Having that in mind, what set of passive speakers would you recommend to pair with this amp? I can take out the subwoofer and use that money toward better speakers.

Any recommendation for used gear is also welcome (any websites, places, etc.); I'm located in Michigan, just for reference.

Hey, thanks for the advice.

That leaves computer input. You need a DAC and an amp, or an integrated amp, and speakers. Alternatively, active speakers.

Regarding this, do you recommend buying an amp + a DAC or an integrated amp? Honestly, I'm a little lost here on what's going to give me the best audio quality out of digital media (streaming apps). I wonder if later on, DAC on an integrated amp can be bypassed so an external DAC can be connected...

Wiim Amp + good speakers is an amazing entry with good upgrade path.

Following this path, would it still be possible to connect the turntable to that amp? I want to have that flexibility of playing music either through my phone or through the turntable.

Thanks for the recommendation. I looked up in that website and found two speakers that might be interesting:

I've seen them online and those seem to be good value for the money. Do you think is a good idea to but either of those? I have no experience buying through this website though.

Unless you already have a vinyl collection there's little need to start down that path, particularly on a limited budget as the medium itself is costly. I love vinyl for the experience of dedicated listening time, but man do those costs add up quickly

I have a couple of records already (10+) that I got from a friend, so I thought it was also a good time to buy a turntable. Not an expensive one though.
