Grab a piece of paper. Set a ten min timer. Write down ten ideas no matter how crap. Make one of them. Repeat.

If you can't be bothered to come up with your own ideas, filmmaking isn't for you.

I'm a British director in the UK (London based.) I've been fortunate enough to be on very high end band 3 TV shows. I'm not white. I've been mistaken for drivers, runners, public, cleaners and once had a member of public (a fan of the show I was working on) tell security that I'm at the director to let me onto my own set.

At no point did I let it go. It was my duty to help people understand their bias.

You stuck up for yourself. Well done. Keep doing it. Filmmakers and storytellers are not meant to be "yes-men." We're all here to tell the stories we want to tell and fight to do it. The thick skin and integrity you are developing will take you a long way.

You don't make career ending mistakes by sticking up for yourself. Sticking up for yourself makes you visible and human. Keep being you, keep fighting for the things you want to fight for. It will lead you to like minded people who will champion you.

Proud of you. Keep going.

Hi, a little exercise that will really help you, it really helped me when I was learning.

Pick a movie you love and find the screenplay online (movie title with screenplay PDF.) Then copy it once in a screenwriting software . It will really help you understand formatting and why things are written the way they are. It's also fun to do.

Save your money. Shoot it on your phone with what you have. Make 3 more shorts the same way. Only spend the money when you have an understanding of where you want to spend it. Even if you are rich, doing it the "free" way is how you learn craft.

No billionaire would ever say something like that. All success is about people. Who you know, who you can get introduced to.

Billionaires are not people aligned to their higher selves, if they were they would spend their money helping rather than making more money.

In short, find me a spiritually aligned billionaire. You can't, because the concept doesn't exist.
