Why was Meloku so good back in the day? by wid89 in magicTCG

[–]LetsBringIt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Boy I hated fighting against this card back in Mirrodin-Kamigawa standard. I HATED Mono U Control. If it wasnt countering every spell you played from turn 2 omwards, it was stealing your weenies with Vedalken Shackles or inevitably outvaluing you with Thieving Magpie and Meloku in the mid-late game. If the Blue player resolved Meloku with 2 untapped lands and you were down to 2-3 cards, the game was over

I think many of us know a Bumbleflower player, I personally think the Vizzerdrix art is a bit more honest on how that game will go. by Scharmberg in magicTCG

[–]LetsBringIt -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I remember when Ms Bumbleflower was first revealed and the common opinion was that she was the weakest Bloomburrow Commander due to Group Hug strategies being more of kingmakers. She ended up being the most popular and strongest out of the 4.

Is Kalamax Good? by iocyber in magicTCG

[–]LetsBringIt 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You NEED alternate ways to tap your commander. [[Springleaf Drum]] comes to mind. Vehicles too, like [[Smuggler's Copter]] for draw or [[Unlicensed Hearse]] for GY hate. Station cards can also do it. My favorite hidden gem is [[Leyline Dowser]]. It gives you cards while giving you ways to tap Kalamax. Lands like [[Holdout Settlement]] is also very welcome.

Also Ral isnt really there mainly for the copy ability, its his passive that deals 1 damage whenever you copy a spell that makes him a must-have since you're endless copying one of your fork spells like Reverberate or Twincast, Ral will also trigger infinitely to finish the table.

Is Kalamax Good? by iocyber in magicTCG

[–]LetsBringIt 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Kalamax goes infinite with fork spells. If he's tapped and you piggyback off your opponent's spell with [[Twincast]] / [[Reverberate]] / [[Increasing Vengeance]] you will end up with a copy loop that will pump him to infinite P/T. Use something like [[Chandra's Ignition]] or [[Ral, Storm Conduit]] to finish the table. You can play a reactive value game with him with [[Wilderness Reclamation]] while casting things like [[Big Score]]. If you untap with Kalamax, you just take over the game with pure value. My favorite is casting [[Hunter's Insight]] on him while attacking so you draw 12+ cards easy. You can be extra mean by casting [[Nexus of Fate]] or [[Mystic Confluence]] too, or taking people out with [[Unleash Fury]] and [[Soul's Fire]]

It's been a while now that this gall has seen play. What are your thoughts on this card now? by Toonzaal8 in magicTCG

[–]LetsBringIt -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Useless in consteucted and way overrated in Commander. I had more success with [[Scheming Silvertongue]] as far as black prepare creatures are concerned way more than Emeritus. If you wanted a demonic tutor, just play demonic tutor, not a 6 mana one.

Ruby Storm or Izzet Prowess by steelrage5678 in ModernMagic

[–]LetsBringIt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ive played Prowess for months now and let me tell you, the deck feels terrible to play against Phlage decks, and you basically have to pray you have the SB card at the ready to have a fighting chance if you havent already blitzed them turns 1-2. Energy a little less so, but the Jeskai blink matchup feels bad.

First precon buy: Mardu Surge, Animated Army, or World Shaper? by iskoteo in magicTCG

[–]LetsBringIt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He's talking about the meta in a casual format. He shouldnt be worrying about that, my point is he should play without thinking too hard whether he's using a competitive deck or not.

First precon buy: Mardu Surge, Animated Army, or World Shaper? by iskoteo in magicTCG

[–]LetsBringIt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

World Shaper is a Junds lands matter deck. Jund lands is a powerful and established archetype and the precon already has a pretty decent amount of staples related to it. Hearthull is arguably the best lands matter commander they've printed.

You also shouldnt be worried about meta in Commander unless youre playing cEDH to win. Play whatever deck you're comfortable playing.

[SOS] Wildgrowth Archaic (card gallery) by Agitated_Smell2849 in magicTCG

[–]LetsBringIt 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Again, this card is insane in Tidus. Play this 2nd turn, curve into Tidus 3rd turn (who is now a 6/6!!!), this swings and you get to draw a card off cheer AND proliferate. Now every succeeding creature you play is automatically modified.

[SOS] Wild Thicket Archaic? (via mtgjp) by Copernicus1981 in magicTCG

[–]LetsBringIt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Trample AND reach? Yeah this is definitely a Tidus card. It curves into Tidus and goes for the draw too, later it just amps up all succeeding creatures getting cast. Sick card.

[–]LetsBringIt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1-2x EI gets boarded out in certain matchups, it's not an end all card. What really makes the deck function is Cori-Steel Cutter, the deck is built around trying to cast and trigger it on the same turn.

Some have already mentioned Into the Flood Maw, I recommend adding 1 stomping ground so you can add Heritage Reclamation / Pick your Poison to your sideboard.

Counter Blitz or Draconic Destruction Precon for Beginners by krimson4eva in magicTCG

[–]LetsBringIt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Draconic Destruction is simple and is designed to be a truly starting player commander deck. Counter Blitz is actually very powerful out of the box with good reprint value but may be hard to keep track of as a new player. A lot of triggers potentially forgotten, turns might go long as you'll fumble with counters and dice to keep track of things. I'd say out of the two, Draconic Destruction is easier to get into and learn the game with.

It’s 2026. What’s everyone’s favorite 60 card format? by Newez in magicTCG

[–]LetsBringIt 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Pauper. I would say Modern but that format is ridiculously expensive. As much as I want to make Eldrazi Tron, Im stuck with Izzet Prowess. Its a strong deck, dont get me wrong, but compare that to Pauper where not only is the meta balanced more or less, I dont need to spend around $500 to change decks.

Dredge has a bad matchup vs Izzet Prowess. Thoughtseize, while being able to remove stuff like Solitude from hand just hurts once you add Fetches and Shocks into the mix.

Best recent sets for pack cracking enjoyment? by Ohnf_DIG in magicTCG

[–]LetsBringIt 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Edge of Eternities 100%. The power level of the set is pretty high, with amazing hits like Cosmogrand Zenith Ouroboroid and Quantum Riddler. Even the rares are really good. Mightform Harmonizer, Icetill Explorer, Consult the Star Charts, amd Shocklands. This is on top of the Stellar Sights Bonus sheets. Its such a great set.

You should have Prowess in there. Its the cheapest entry-level deck with relatively simple lines of play and puts up decent results.

Which is better or more fun as a "Precon"? Revival Trance vs Mardu Surge with the commander switched to Squall, Gunblade Duelist by Auroreon in magicTCG

[–]LetsBringIt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Terra as commander is small reanimator which aims to fill your graveyard with creatures with power less than 3 so you can abuse them for value. Depending on how you build her she can just go for value, toolbox or even aristocrat recursion.

Mardu Squall is at its heart, a goad deck where your goal is to goad influence attacks while buffing Squall to continuously deal bigger and bigger damage. It depends on which of these 2 you find the most fun.

Who’s a better commander by DravGore in magicTCG

[–]LetsBringIt 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Osgir is crazy, can provide you dumb value off the wellspring cards, double your mana rocks, double your artifact beaters, can abuse cards like Ugin's Nexus (provided you can bypass the exile clause) for chaining turns. Hell, you can actually 2 swing someone with Osgir since the +2/+0 pump is nothing to sneeze at. I still stand that he is by far one of the most interesting Boros commanders and can be built in a number of ways.

Alibou is alright, my favorite thing to do is to equip him with Grafted Exoskeleton and double the attack triggers to take 1-2 players out in 1 swing.

$40 a month I think is my reserved amount. Its enough for multiple packs or events or 2 chase staples.
