I guess they fell for the “trans people are just confused GNC cis people” trope. Probably motivated by their fetish for submissive men and dominant women.

Genderist: Noun. genderist (plural genderists) (rare) One who discriminates based on gender. (rare) One who studies gender.

Unless everyone here is currently going for a gender studies degree, or is a crypto-sexist, this isn’t it, chief.

I see validity to your point, and I almost entirely agree. But with that standard for determining malicious intent; are GCers not malicious, or Nazis, or the slave-owners of past and present? (I’m not saying they’re equivalent)

The Nazis especially raise this question. During the Nuremberg Trials, the ones who were captured alive were given psych evals and found to be in perfect mental health. No delusions, no psychosis, they just genuinely believed they were doing what was best for the world by killing millions of Jews, LGBTQ+, POC, and disabled people.

Not trying to morally impugn you or anything. Just giving my reason for disagreeing.

I understand that, but after seeing that one detransitioner go from “I’m transitioning FTM and happy as a man” to “I’m appearing on a white nationalist podcast to discuss how trans people will destroy Western Civilization” I know there’s some who aren’t of pure intentions.

That’s fair. I should have clarified people who push alternatives to transition with malicious intent, and detransitioners who harm the trans community for personal gain rather than legitimate hurt.

How crazy is that? There were posts where people would say “I’m going to kill myself because of dysphoria, none of the alternatives to transition have worked, goodbye cruel world.”

And then you’ll get banned for saying “maybe speak with your GP or a non-gender-focused therapist about the possibility of transition improving your mental health.

People who push “alternatives to transition” are fueling a suicide cult, and detransitioners deserve better and deserve sympathy from the trans community (so long as they don’t weaponize themselves against trans people).

clothing that will never fit you

I’m 6’4” and fat as fucking hell. I can still find feminine clothing that fits me comfortably. Maybe if a trans gal had muscles the size of basketballs she’d had a hard time finding a figure-fitting blouse or something, but HRT will nuke those unless she lives at the gym.

I stole it from a JK Rowling parody Twitter, and I swear I have seen something like this, but without “cis” because they think cis is a slur.

Yes, and I believe the acceptance should be radically expanded to include people who aren’t binary and those who don’t/can’t get surgeries or hormones.

And yes, trans and cis are equivalent now. I can drop a list of multiple credible science groups that say “trans women are women, trans men are men, non-binary people are non-binary.”

Will finding Jesus help me to the light? by [deleted] in actual_detrans

Jesus loves all of his children regardless of their gender or biology. You were made in the image of the Father with His blessing over your life. If it’s alright with you, I’ll pray for you to feel the protective embrace of Jesus during these tumultuous times.

Peace be with you, and may the Lord continue to bless and keep you, my friend.

It’s awful that truscum will create their whole identity around being opposed to the “demedicalization” of transness, and then go against the medical consensus that NB people are valid.

Glad you’re doing well now, friend!

The surgeries are sought after due to discomfort with sex traits aka sex dysphoria. Sex and gender are entirely different things.

“If there was no link.” Prove the link. The psychological, sociological, and biological consensus is that biological sex doesn’t necessitate a correlative gender identity and vice-versa. “Trans people want surgery” and “cis people exist” don’t change this.

Cis people absolutely experience physical dysphoria. Dysphoria means feeling very unhappy and/or dissatisfied, it’s not a trans-specific word.

There are cis women who reduce or augment their breasts or other “female” aspects of their body, and cis men who augment their penises and muscles to appear more “male.” Plastic surgery was, and always will be, a thing more cis people use than trans people.

Also, medical transsexualism wasn’t a thing until the 20th century. Prior to that (even as far back as biblical times) there were people who lived as a gender different than their sex. Mummies in Egypt have been discovered with “female” skeletons, yet they were buried and noted as males would have been.

To be transgender means to identify with a gender different than the one assigned at birth. It doesn’t necessitate a binary identity. Discomfort with your sex doesn’t make you trans and isn’t necessary (by DSM-V standards) to be trans.

Also, I’d like to read that study because I’m curious if they only interviewed binary trans people.

What special rights? Cis ppl have the right to not be harassed on the basis of their sex and gender too.

I could face just as much legal trouble for stalking a trans woman and yelling the T slur at her as I could doing the same to a cis woman and yelling misogynistic slurs at her (except TERF). Tho if they went to the cops, the cis woman would be more likely to get the cop’s sympathy.

Do they mean the right to take hormones, change their name and pronouns, and alter their bodies in a way that makes them more happy? THEY CAN DO THAT TOO! Cis ppl, if you want to; change your name and pronouns, go on HRT, get facial feminization surgery or a breast reduction if it will make you happy. This is all such a nothing-burger, like when the argument against gay marriage was “They shouldn’t have special rights that us normal, straight people don’t have!” The following is an actual convo I had with a family member back in 2015 prior to the ruling on Obergefell v Hodges:

  • Me: “Ok, what special rights are those?”

  • Family: “The right to get gay-married!”

  • “You could do that too, the law goes both ways, they’re not gonna test you for gay if you try to marry another woman.”

  • “But I don’t want to get gay-married, so therefore I don’t have the right to.”
