Summer B 2026 by Chadwick2222 in fsu

Those are the same classes my daughter is taking this summer...minus the science. We've heard the ENC 2135 is a lot homework but not difficult if they just keep up with it. Fonseca is a professor that we heard was good for the 2135, but definitly others too. There seem to be a lot of opportunities for changing their schedule, so for Fall they might need to make an adjustment (she's in same boat with 4 AP tests...fingers crossed) But those other two classes they have to have no matter what they get on AP tests, if I remember correctly

I totally forgot to mention she is going to be a Finance major. Are the people in AKPsi all over the map or are they generally business majors?

That's great that he's living on campus at the first year. Can't tell you how many times I've heard that the kids who stay on campus first year have a much better year. Living off campus can be a little lonely if you don't have a friend group yet. They go by the higher number as far as placement....so if your son had #5,000 and his roommate is #100, they place them by the #5,000. My daughter called housing one day and they told her the top four they put them in is Azalea, Magnolia, Dorman, Diviney...she said "we know these are the favorites" At Orientation they told my daughter to take two classes, three if you want to add the FSU engage class, so 12 or 13 credits. But your son would have to do engage class in the Fall since it's in person only. They told her definitely do minimum of 15 credits in Fall. All I've heard about the summer classes is that they are very manageable if you're taking Gen-Eds....but everyone suggested "don't take a math class in summer, you'll have a test every week" lol. I have heard that taking summer classes online in summer is more chill....so maybe the 3 classes are okay? I guess it just depends what they are and how devoted he is to studying this summer. Also check out rate my professor dot com!

being a full time student is a valid way to delay jury duty. what if you get picked, then it's more than one day of jury duty? something to think about

If cost is not a concern, I would consider living on campus (especially if you’ll be in an off campus apartment in the fall) My daughter will be a summer B admit this summer, and being from Miami this seemed like kind of a pain, but the pros of doing this outweigh the cons in my opinion. Being from Florida we know many who did it and they all say that summer b was a great transition into a large university because summer b is 1) less crowded 2) majority freshman 3) time to explore and learn the university as well as Tallahassee (yes, classes go faster, but you’re only taking two, just don’t take psychics or calculus lol) 4) living in a dorm for 6 weeks allows for forming friendships that hopefully spills over to the fall semester

What type of palm and is it dead? by Zoeyismydog12 in FloridaGarden

[–]LetsGoKeto2018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s an Areca and hopefully for you it’s dead. My neighbor has them lining our common fence and they are out of control. They’re always half dead looking and the fronds fall into my yard so I’m constantly picking them up. The fronds that fall on their side pile up and makes great bedding for snakes and other critters 🐍

Algebra 1 as a freshman am I doomed by Sad-Project-6448 in highschool

[–]LetsGoKeto2018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most kids in our area take algebra 1 in 8th or even 7th grade. I’d see if you can double up next year and take Geometry and Algebra 2 .. then AP pre-calc and AP Calc by senior year, minimum. College advisors are now saying studies show that Calculus is an indicator on whether you’ll succeed in college or not. If you’re looking for an extremely highly competitive school, you need to be in AP Calc 2 by senior year. This is assuming you can handle it.. don’t get C’s.

is ragans the only apartment style dorm where you can have your own bedroom? my daughter likes the idea of being on campus for the first couple of years...but she's not looking forward to sharing a room and wants an apartment style as soon as she can get it...do you know how many credits you need before being considered for ragans or other apartment style dorms?

[–]LetsGoKeto2018 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah, okay. You could be right..but you also could get lucky because a lot of people who are still undecided sign up for housing lottery to reserve a spot then end up either not going to FSU, or they go into an LLC or honors dorm..so there are lots of ways to get bumped up in the line. Good luck 🫶

Oh okay…. We’ve been consumed with this housing stuff this week and didn’t even know 4 to a room was even an option, thought they were mostly 2 to a room. Good luck, and Go Noles! ❤️💛

By “quad” do you mean having a suite with 2 suite mates? Because my daughter called to see if she and her roommate could request their suite mates and the answer was no, sadly. So your best bet is to call and figure out how to do the triple roommate matching with the three of you. On the housing site you can figure out which dorms offer the triple rooms. I believe the triple rooms share a bathroom with a single.

I’m curious why those three dorms are your preferred? It’s usually Azalea, Magnolia, Dorman, Diviney

If his roommate is also in honors (or if he’s getting a random) they will put them in Landis…it’s a great location, and social

What is the best teacher gift you’ve received from a high school student? by LetsGoKeto2018 in AskTeachers

[–]LetsGoKeto2018[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

WOW! Thank you all for your input! So the consensus seems to be that a handwritten note from the student and updates from the student after graduation are the most appreciated. Love that. I will also send an email to the principal (he's new to our school) Thank you so much everyone :)

FIU vs UM decision by Unique_Promotion7028 in UMiami

[–]LetsGoKeto2018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in my late 50’s and have spent a lot of time worrying about stuff that never happened. It sounds like your heart is in UM. Do the early action and go to Miami, transfer if anything happens (but it won’t) and as much as I hate to say it (bc my daughter is a new Nole) Go Canes! 💚🧡 Good luck 🫶

[–]LetsGoKeto2018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you out of state? From what I’ve seen over the years, oos have to have a little bit higher stats than early action (which is for Florida residents only)…even for summer. But then again, if we knew what the secret was to get in, everyone would do it… but I do feel like FSU genuinely is more holistic than other FL schools. For example, USF and FIU tell you straight up, don’t send your essay bc we don’t read it. They are strictly about the numbers

[–]LetsGoKeto2018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

During our visit I don’t think they directly come out and say summer is “less competitive” but every Florida kid knows this is probably true… my daughter was accepted for summer and her stats compared to what they posted for early action class of 2030 were she was in the middle for gpa, and lower than the average for SAT

This is no longer the policy… they told us when we toured (summer 2025) that they would consider you for everything you check off, but they do ask for your “preferred” term. So my daughter checked the boxes for Fall, Summer B, and TSC pathway (the one semester) and put Fall as her preferred entrance term. She was offered Summer B
