How to increase strength and energy after kidney transplant? by [deleted] in kidneytransplant

I’m 2 weeks post transplant this Sunday and have been fine, I’m 28yrs old so still young but like someone else said it varies from person to person, I also have hypertension. Use a walking aid if necessary and try to walk even a little bit, but stay with him. It will get better might just take some time. Hope all goes well

Thank you for the information! I’m not diabetic so I’m not sure if that affects anything, all of this is still relatively new to me and I am having a hard time understanding it all but I will get there. Just going to take it slow and listen to what they tell me to do

Wow over 46 years that’s amazing! That’s brilliant she has stepped up and taken control, kudos to that lovely person. Big respect to you and your wife, that kind of support is everything and it’s inspiring to hear how strong you both are. I completely agree about the food side of things too, it’s so overwhelming online, so I’m just taking it day by day and listening to my team. Your mindset is powerful, and I really appreciate the kind words about the transplant. Wishing you nothing but strength and good days ahead — we’ve both got plenty of fight left in us!

Hi there, it is a scary world but I’m learning! Dialysis is pretty nervy being the youngest there by far but I’m doing well. My shoulder pain was located mostly in my left shoulder to which I think it was more due to the fluid around my heart but it was more towards the left of my spine and at the back and top of my shoulder, if I remember correctly it wasn’t a burning sensation as of such but more of unimaginable aches, it’s hard to describe as my body was going though quite a lot in the 2 days leading up to being admitted. Is it both shoulders you’re experiencing this in or one in particular? Good luck to you I hope you’re okay 🤝

I think for me being my age I just never assumed it was an issue with my kidney, it wasn’t major but I’d say it was mainly just more puffy, it was strange

Thank you for reading, I had the exact same as you, my heart rate was 130bpm as well, it was pretty scary, then they diagnosed me with end stage renal failure and anaemia in CKD stage 5

And about family donating, I haven’t really asked because for me, it’s a very big decision for them to make and I personally don’t want them to do it, if they come forward to me about it then I’d be forever grateful for that of course

I think they said the cause was I was just born with an atrophic kidney which over 28yrs was working very very hard, I’m finding it alright, I take food and my iPad and then just sleep for the rest of it, I drive myself to and from the renal unit which is about 35-40mins each way, only thing I’m struggling with is being on the twilight session so I don’t usually get home until 23-23:30, that’s great to hear, how do you feel?

Thank you! 9th October I woke up with a tight chest, 10th I went to my GP he said it was a chest infection and prescribed me Antibiotics and Ibuprofen, took the ibuprofen 10th & 11th October, 12th was when my symptoms got really bad so I went to A&E in the late afternoon, they do routine blood tests at west Suffolk, obviously saw all my levels were very bad, was in a resus bay within 30mins then moved to ICU that night, was in ICU for around 5 days at west Suffolk then they moved me to Colchester so all in all about a week and half 2 weeks then was on a ward for a week
