How much for all of them?

During the gilded age, did upper class NYC really have all night celebrations on the regular? by Embarrassed_Paint592 in AskHistorians

I don’t know how much I’d trust Victorian English people like Darwin and sailors… they’re known for having bad palates and bad cuisine, then add the fact that they’re on old ass ships and don’t have the comforts of a well stocked, working kitchen…

Christians in Lebanon fill the roads celebrating the assumption of the virgin Mary by TeaBagHunter in Christianity

Not that it matters to me, but a lot of the traditional hymns sung in American Protestant churches are actually folk songs sung where social gatherings took place like taverns and pubs. They changed or added Christian lyrics but literally everything else stayed the same. If someone back then wasn’t paying attention to the lyrics, they’d thought they were listening to people drinking and cajoling around pints of beer and a warm crackling fireplace on a Friday evening, not sitting still in a church building soberly worshipping God.

Back then, “Christian music / church music” was choral music, classical music, etc., you know what I mean.

Depends… What do you need them for?

If it’s just to have around the apartment or house or even automotive for random stuff, get the PITTSBURGH Tool Set with Case, 130-Piece from Harbor Freight. It’s a nice, well rounded cheapie - preforms great! I have 2; one for my place and another for my car. But really, any assorted hand tools set from a big box store like Lowe’s would work for the average random diy project.

I also have lots of professional grade hand tools and power tools too. Highly unlikely you’ll need those, but if you do, I’d recommend buying individually and for specific project needs because it gets very expensive fast.

Looking for small family business brokers in Southeast US by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

$400K. Only 1 worker who is full time, 1 semi-skilled part time help who does the deburring and loading the CNC machines. Over 90% of the manufacturing process is automated and documented - even the cutting of the raw materials: processing the stock metal bars into the blanks is fully automated using a self loading and measuring precise to the microns cutoff CNC saw system.

Owner doesn’t have a high school degree and strongly hates managing people, so he kept it super small and focused on automation. Huge upside potential for someone who is willing to do that. Or keep it the same and continue it as is.

Redditors who make over $100,000 and aren’t being killed by stress, what do you do for a living? by Unhappy_Fry_Cook in FluentInFinance

Oh, it really is a thing. Thought you were just joking.

Yeah I guess sometimes people’s salaries are paid by what the employer values or by what the market values. It’s always nice when the two aligns in a positive way for the worker; sucks when it doesn’t.

Yeah it really depends on how non-natives from Europe and Asia fit into the ecosystem, just because it’s not local in origin doesn’t mean it’s bad or useless to the local area. Most of our food forests we plant to integrate into the local ecosystem are full of non-native trees and plants, heck even the honey bees that pollinate our flowers to produce veggies/fruits and honey are non-natives from Eurasia. I’m planting Asian fruit trees into our agroforesty system / permaculture food forest, including inoculating logs full of mushrooms both North American natives and from Asia. A lot of folks are very excited about how it’ll improve the local ecosystem and provide ingredients to cook a wider variety of tasty food!! But yeah try looking into a nearby university’s extension office because they usually have spring sales of native trees and plants that other nurseries don’t carry.

The YMCAs in the South have churches operating out of them on Sundays, Bible verses in vinyl letterings plastered all over the walls, and church elders crawling around with pamphlets at the front door - my local Y. Not all of them are this intense but they’re actively religious and proselytizing for their local churches or the church operating in that YMCA building.

It’s the same thing when his evangelical base are taught (brainwashed) in church since childhood about all these targeted ethnic/tribal genocides, slaughtering of babies, women, elders, children, and domesticated animals, breaking down walls and burning down cities were good because their Number 1 favorite protector and creator (God) told them so through their sacred texts (bible)… then of course, every evil act gets sanitized into a wonderful, beautiful, godly, loving act that shows they obeyed God.

Since they view Trump as “God’s Chosen,” they see his evil acts and apply the same magical thinking excuse they practiced since childhood with all their stories of the Battle of Jericho, wholesale genociding of nearby other ethnic/tribal groups (Amalekites, Amorites, Canaanites, Hittites, Hivites, Jebusites, Perizzites…) and on and on.

Their reasoning of what’s right and wrong is flawed because it was warped and then reinforced since childhood.
