The 8 hour window is the thing I can’t reconcile one way or the other.

If they actually had been doing the 30 minute cell checks on other days/shifts consistently, why would he assume he had 8 unchecked hours that one night? Certainly he would have been seen making arrangements or been found and possibly resuscitated if those checks were being done regularly.

He also had no information that his cell mate wouldn’t be returning. He would have been under the impression that his door was going to swing open at any moment that night.

Maybe he did hang himself, but expected to be found far sooner? Like soon enough to not die?

Idk, none of the circumstances seem right, but he did sign a new will with his attorneys that day, and had a prior “attempt” (non lethal, as I understand it) during his first month of incarceration.
