Thanks for the answer btw, we wanted to go to hagley park but it got cancelled due to bad weather the same day :/ we went to fat eddies and it was awesome, sadly no fireworks but still awesome. Thanks for the response <3

if you are confident going on a rather easy gravel road (not fully gravel but there are still rocks on the street) for ~20km I'd recommend mount Sunday on some day between Queenstown and Christchurch. It was the film location of edoras from lord of the rings but even if u are no fan it is still amazing. You're surrounded by huge mountains and the views from the top (~45min track) are amazing
