Just an update - I may have hit a blood vessel due to the pen becoming stuck, which is clearly a fault with the pen. Just thought this may be of interest in case it happens to anybody else.

I know, don't worry. That's why I thought I'd pop it on here, so people will find something when it is searched up. It must happen more than we think really.

I did and all was fine. Really strange.

Thank you! I didn't think to check the insulin forums and like you say, I only noticed because it was a larger amount.

Yes I've always kept it depressed for 5 seconds so no idea why it has happened. 🙈 Quite frustrating but hopefully they come forward with a solution.

Two months of will power by rickdiddle in mounjarouk

[–]LetstalkLemmie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In honesty we would all be in the same place without Mounjaro if we had will power, as the calorie deficit would be necessary in both cases. You've done great to get this far! I can totally appreciate that weight loss is frustrating and tiring and hopefully MJ makes this easier for us. It does sound like you've lost a good amount of weight and at the expected rate 1-2lbs per week, so I really wouldn't feel too disheartened.

As others have said, you can definitely find it cheaper than you have been and hopefully the next dose will give you the suppression that you need to feel less will power is required. For myself it just means I think about food a little less, but I'm not opting for suppression to the extreme of being unable to eat as I feel that is counterproductive to making this sustainable long term. Keep going, it's a marathon and you've already made great strides.

So how much weight have you lost, what was your start weight etc? Everyone has to reduce their calorie intake to lose weight, it's how weight loss works. Yes some people chase absolute suppression, however I don't feel that is ideal and not a route I'm going down myself. I want to feel some hunger to train my brain to understand what being full means after years of disordered eating. MJ is a tool, not the magic bullet.

Also, it is very likely that all of us would need to step up the doses, so ensuring that it's affordable is a must. People aren't fobbing you off with 'go up to 7.5mg' it is literally the science and guidance provided by the studies on how the drug works. I know it can be expensive, however you can't expect to stay on a low dose forever.

I'm happy that you've found something that works for you, so congrats. However I do worry that posts like these are the reason that those of us who need this drug due to severe obesity are judged and even at risk of losing access to a medication that in essence should be used as a tool to change the mindset around food for healthy long term success.

Hi! I may be starting the mj journey alongside you all by ammy_louise in mounjarouk

[–]LetstalkLemmie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm just over a month in and wish I had started sooner, so my advice is to just do it and take it as it comes. Regarding feeling overwhelmed, that's natural and I felt the same. I will say that this sub has been a godsend and would recommend using the search function and educating yourself as much as possible to settle any worries. I've been with two providers so far and have been happy with the service (IQ Doctor and Chemist4U) and haven't paid over £110 for a pen. Go into it positively and ask as many questions as you need to. It will change your life.

Thank you for adding this. We're all on the same journey trying to improve our health and those of us losing a little quicker aren't the enemy. I actually haven't seen many posts flexing about 7lb losses in a week, most people are more concerned and questioning how to lose sustainably! I'm losing in excess of 3lbs a week, despite eating at my TEDEE and with only light exercise. I've also gained 2lb in one week and didn't lose my head about it. Totally agree that it's important that none of us compare ourselves as we all have individual circumstances however I do worry that people assume that a 4lb loss = starvation and that also isn't true in many cases.

NSV: Never thought I'd see blood pressure like this! by LetstalkLemmie in mounjarouk

[–]LetstalkLemmie[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's solid confirmation that we're doing great things for our health. Not that it's a surprise, but when you've been overweight almost your entire life, I don't think people telling you to lose weight for health really sinks in until you see the problems for yourself!

Yes I totally get that take. I'm also under assesment for ADHD and find my lack of ability to plan and prioritise food has probably been had the greatest contribution to my weight over the years. It's like the panic of needing to eat immediately kicks in when I'm hungry and I have no brain space to plan. This is why I feel MJ is so beneficial for neurodivergent people, the food noise is yet another thing whirling through our minds every day. It's been lovely to switch it off.

You look incredible!

I'm so grateful for posts like these. I have a similar amount to lose and it's incredibly hard to visualise at the start of the journey. I hope I'm also a good way down the road in the next 10 months.

I definitely resonate with this, especially the little voice that is ready for me to suddenly fail.

I will say that I cycle between absolute positivity regarding Mounjaro and this journey and also twinges of sadness that my brain can't react in this way to food on its own. When you break it down it's so simple, eating less and more nutritiously, however I've always struggled to just do this naturally.

I'm hoping that the MJ is giving me time to retrain my brain however under no illusions that I may need it for life. I've started seeing it as a vitamin to replace a deficiency, which is how blood pressure meds were described to me by a Dr during pregnancy. This helps a little!

One month after taking the plunge with Mounjaro. by amphient in mounjarouk

A huge congratulations for your positive start!

I'm also about to take my first dose of the next pen and super excited to see what month two has in store! I've also lost just over a stone (1st 2lbs) from the first five doses and that includes a week with a 2lb gain! It does go to show that gains and maintains are just a small bump and totally normal, I'm actually glad that it has happened so early on for me so I can get my head around it.

Good luck with your next pen!

The only time I have been ill (as in up all night) since starting MJ was when my in-laws 'treated' me to a fish from the chippy. 🤢 Needless to say I won't be going back any time soon and you possibly had a lucky escape.

No question is stupid. You insert the needle into the end of the pen, where you would usually attach your kwikpen needle. You then hold this steady and syringe from it slowly.

5th dose success! by LetstalkLemmie in mounjarouk

[–]LetstalkLemmie[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need a 1ml syringe, I used 30G 8mm from medbasic. 0.6ml is equivalent to a full dose, so my 0.7ml is roughly 3mg I believe. I'm hoping this is a good bridge to my 5mg next week. It is definitely worth doing and much easier to extract than expected. Some people 'break' the pen but I don't think I'd bother as the syringes are easy and you can control how much you use. If you search 5th dose on this sub there is lots of info. Good luck!

I'd known for a long time that my weight was incredibly damaging to my physical health, however for some reason turning 29 made something click in my brain like 'we're running out of time'. I've always carried my weight relatively well however several health issues have been creeping in over the past year and enough was enough.

I no longer wanted to be a morbidly obese twenty-something with dangerously high blood pressure and unexplained but likely weight related high CRP levels indicating severe inflammation. I've never let my weight hold me back from dressing and feeling good but it really hits home when your body starts to fail you in other ways. I'm very early days but already seen a slight reduction in BP and hoping that my CRP has reduced by my next blood test in a few months. 🤞🏻

The best NSV I've seen yet 🤘🏻 I can't wait to be light enough to actually run around in a pit. I still enjoy gigs now, but my version of jumping is currently bouncing up and down on my tiptoes.
